our regal cat tuxe had died september 12.  he was 12 years old.

tuxe succumbed to a cat disease he'd been suffering for over a year.  he'd visited the vet so many times, including home service, that i can no longer remember the number of times.

we may feel empty without you, tuxe, but we wish you true happiness in cat heaven.

we will always remember you as that noisy and terrified kitten who went out of a rolled canvass cloth, thrown by a pedicab driver at our gate, unwanted, ugly.  but my husband picked you up, fast, before our dog could bite you.

then you grew up to be one of the most beautiful cats i've ever seen.  and you learned to listen to human conversations. or did you pretend to listen, wise tuxe, because you knew how crazy humans can be such that you entertained them by looking and concentrating on one who was talking at the moment?

ave atque vale, tuxe.  hail and farewell, tuxe.

(sigh.  i am sad.)

fast becoming a nervous wreck here.  (heaven forbid.)  eid al-adha (festival of the sacrifice) in this largely muslim country is being celebrated with the slaughter of thousands, yes, thousands, of cows on the streets.

most foreigners of other religions leave this place or time their vacations during this festival period.  those who stay choose to remain indoors.  i am with the latter.  a planned december vacation at my home country is too near this time of year to waste money on an unplanned trip.  so here i am, with windows closed and curtains drawn.

i made the mistake of biking in the early morning during this same festival last year, says an american expat here.  what i saw was a b movie.  simply horrific, he adds.

myself, i had terrible nightmares last night.  descriptions of the scenes that i may witness have gotten into me.  i'll do my damnedest not to witness any.  never had being imprisoned felt so reassuring.

:( - very sad and scared

January 14, 2015, 6:48PM an IED (Improvised Explosive Devise) exploded infront of my aunt's house in Pikit, North Cotabato.. All were safe, thank you LORD!!! but the trauma, cannot be explained... nabungol pa hangtud karon akong pinsan sa kakusog sa explosion kay medyo duol ra siya.. ang kaning gipang file nga sugnod nga kahoy ang naka save sa ilang life kay maoy nisagang sa mga concrete nails (with poison) ...yeeppp concrete nails soaked in poison ang sulod sa IED... Sa karon, naa na sila dire sa Digos nag stay temporarily...

you have the same birthday as my father's, wow!

i promise to pay you a visit kun madayon mi sa among annual clan reunion in the month of may, venue davao city.  last year unta to ang davao, but it was decided at the last minute that cagayan de oro city was easier, being in the middle of everyone.  sadly, we are the farthest from anywhere in the philippines because we're out of the country now.  but i hope to be able to attend as i was able to attend last year.

you know how to fall and rise again.  it would be great to meet you in person. :)

Mamahaw lang gani, mura na ug pawnshop (or christmas tree) ang lawas kay napuno ug dekorasyon, ang usa ka kamot Iphone6 ang gigunitan ang isa, tinidor haahaha... no wonder we are tagged as "gold digger"... pasalamat na lang ko kay di ko materialistic nga tao ug naa'y tarong nga work...  soweeeee Fr. you're not alone, loll.  it's sad, embarrassing, terrible, horrific, dreadful, awful, appalling, horrifying, horrible, horrendous, atrocious, abominable, deplorable, egregious, abhorrent, frightful, shocking, hideous, ghastly, grim, dire, unspeakable, gruesome, monstrous, sickening, heinous, vile, serious, grave, godawful, grievous, excruciating, agonizing, unbearable, intolerable, unendurable, dreadful, awful, deplorable, atrocious, hopeless, worthless, useless, poor, pathetic, pitiful, lamentable, appalling, abysmal and what other synonyms can be produced by google... in the end, we wish we could wring their necks for staining our dignity as filipino women.

(it's not so good for travelers like me either, especially when i was younger, because i ran the risk of being mistaken for one of them, huhuhu.)

so, yes, forgive us fr chic, for feeling this way. :(

my condolence, loll.  i read this post before and felt so bad myself, so i tried to pretend that kenshin is still around.  then i remembered this, now, and got real.

something in us is diminished when a pet dies, as we both know.
