This week started my 2nd week  for my Ph.D class on Advanced Research Methods and Statistics. I recently turned in my my last paper with the help of Isles, who is my helper editor (way to go Isles, wohoo!) and after coming to class, I had to present the basic synopsis of my findings and on possible problems with qualitative methods. I presented possible loop holes and future research additions.

As soon as I finished and surrendered the floor to questions, I was literally attacked by questions by some of my classmates, I have one classmate who was continually repeating why I prefered qualitative research, and that i should have gone for a quantitative approach.

We had a conversation afterwards and compared our research pathway.

This guy is no joke; we had a lot to talk about and in the end of the day, i found another issue i should address in the upcoming final paper for this class.

PS. I would like to give a big thanks to Isles for reading over 2 of my Ph.D doctoral papers so far. She's really an angel. ;)

I could not help but feel empathy and understanding on your part, Vince. In case of friction and conflict at work, it's really good to address the situation and make it know that you hear what they are saying, as well don't be afraid to comment on your disagreements with them. I've been in a situation before at work as well as in the classroom where I have been lectured down as well as put down by some attending M.Ds who think that they know everything and have the priviledge to put down any requests by medical interns; or even have the audacity to think that we don't know what we're talking about. I remember one time, i was working shoulder to shoulder with an M.D in the Intensive Care Unit and as the Intern that night, he felt as if he could take advantage of me. I really got fed up and objected to him and reminded him of the allied health approach. He stopped baya.

In regards to your work situation, Isles is correct in that conflict resolution should be focused. However, if this same person continues to put you down and belittle you, make it known that you disagree with this person. I can understand that in a work place, there is a sense of competition and rivalry, but this should not be pretext to put others down.

I for one am in the position of stating your mind and standing up to principle.

Best of luck and feel better.

Salamat Bro. It feels much better to know that I am not alone in this world! Hahahaha. These kind of things gajud puwede mahitabo sa kinsa nato. ;D

I just recently completed a doctoral class on Advanced Research Methods and Statistics with a grade of 96. It's one Ph.D class down, more to go pa gajod. I feel inspired to accomplish all of these goals , academic, clinical, that the Lord God has placed on my lap (literally and figuratively). I am encouraged that He will always stand by me to strengthen me and to encourage me during this arduous journey. In the times that I feel overwhelmed because of medical duty, student duty and teaching duty, I have to remind myself that I am not alone in this matter, but am equipped by the Power of God to accomplish these goals. In times of burden, I have to remind myself to give all of my stress and sources of stress to Jesus Christ. Man cannot do everything by himself, but, as I have learned, if you commit your plans to The Lord God and to Trust in His ways, He will guide you always.

A verse from scripture that came to me today:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight. ”

  - Proverbs 3:5-6

feeling blue pod ko but i know it's because i only had 3 hours' sleep last night and i'm still at a loss over what to do with my latest rescued kitten; rescued under the most difficult of circumstances.  with 28 cats to my name and a river of tears over the death of some, i'm beginning to question my sanity. :(

lipay ko karon kay gikan kong nibayad sa among condo association dues ug water bill, gikugihan gyod nakog ihap ug sinselyo, up to the last centavo.  kay ngano laging mag-bill ug bungkig unya di kahibawong maninselyo.  pwes, nibayad kog bungkig kaayo, nalipong silag inihap.  pakapinan pa nakog estorya ug "mula ngayon, wala na kayong problema sa butal sa akin".
