Buwad,
It is just a quote from scripture. It is a rhetorical question within scripture.
It means to tell us that even with all the wealth of the world, all the knowledge of the world, and all the pleasures of the flesh, if one does not submit to the Will of God and accept His presence in our lives and in His Son, Christ Jesus, the Word Incarnate, then all is lost.
Everything and all the pleasures in this life, this material world, are fleeting. It is in the here-after that one must be concerned with, despite the secularization of this world.
It is better to live a simple life, a humble life and still cling Hope to the promise of God and Hope in the Salvation promised to Us through His son, Jesus Christ.
Than to live a rich and luxurious life, yet devoid of spirituality and communion with the Almighty.
