If you believe in your heart and soul : That Jesus Christ Is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father, that he was crucified on the cross and that God raised Him on the 3rd day, and have accepted him Him in your heart as your Personal Lord and Savior.

You WILL Be saved. :)

Saved. You will be saved.

No Ifs Ands or Buts. Saved.

INSTRUCTION

The Rosary or Mass and Holy Communion is recommended each day.

The National Public Novena takes place each year at Knock Shrine from the 14th to the 22nd August. Prayer Leaflets may be had from the Shrine Office. Two sessions are held daily, namely at 3 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Both sessions commence with Concelebrated Mass in the Basilica which is followed by a Procession to the Apparition Gable. A procession of the Blessed Sacrament is held in the afternoon and the beautiful candlelight procession takes place at night. For those who cannot be present, the Novena may be made at home or in the local church. This gives them a share in the Masses and prayers being offered each day at the Shrine.

Automatically if a person believes that Jesus IS LORD and believes 100% in the LORD and that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SAVIOR ON HIGH died for our sins on the Cross of Redemption, that individual will be SAVED!

Ye they may be dead, but they will be raised on Judgment Day to be Judged according to their faith and their deeds of faith.

Purgatory, in my belief is a place for those who had some faith, but had a questioning faith. A doubting faith.

Don't doubt!

Just Believe! Accept that Christ died for your sin and satiated the sacrifice as Heaven's Perfect Lamb. Accept HIM into your hearts and put your trust IN HIM.

And You will be Saved!

For it is written, "None can come to the Father but Through Me."

Christ is the LIFE, WAY AND THE RESURRECTION!

NO WAY, NO OTHER WAY OR NAME OR PERSON IN THIS WORLD will guarantee salvation, BUT JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD!

In Christ and CHRIST ALONE.
He who has AUTHORITY EVERLASTING.
He who is ALPHA AND OMEGA.

For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON that whosoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.

Thank you very much Ms. simplylee.  Had intended to read the Holy Bible but makalibog man. Just a personal question to you:  I am a baptized Christian and I believe God in my own way, am not successively attending masses but I solely devote prayers anytime and anywhere. And according to our belief....am a sinner coz I am a second marriage offender but am happy now than my first attempt.  Am in hell as what the others said.   Do you think...our good Lord will not acknowledge my personal persuasion? Abi baja naho ug sa Purgatorio ko ibutang?

ang pagsalikway sa gibuhat ni GINOONG HESUKRISTO SA KRUS mao ang makapaadto sa tawo sa linaw nga kalayo, kay dili man ang binuhatan mao ang basihan nga ang tawo maluwas, Ephesians 2:8&9 for by grace you are saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest any man should boast.

No one is condemning anyone, Bambi. And your reiteration of you being a sinner, is a UNIVERSAL TRUTH. As we are all sinners, for none of us are perfect or righteous in the eyes of God. NONE!

Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."

The matter of redemption and salvation exists between you and Your God. Our God.
If you believe in your Heart and Mind that Jesus Christ is LORD and that God The Father raised HIM on the 3rd day, you WILL BE saved!

If you accept Jesus Christ as YOUR personal LORD and SAVIOR, you will be Saved.

For it is written, "For No One can come to the Father, but Through Me."

Christ Saves.
Christ is Salvation On High.

To Ate Lee,

We must analyze the entire words of Ephesians Chapter 2. Not selective verses.
True, it is by Faith that we have been saved. However, one has to read the following verses to gain the Fuller picture regarding salvation and in regards to good works.

So I will provide verses 8-10 from Ephesians Chapter 2;

"8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
----

Ephesians Chapter 2 verses 9-10 is Direct. None of us, should boast of salvation, as salvation is a GIFT, a gift that Christ has given to those who are open to recieve Salvation--in ACCEPTING HIM as LORD AND SAVIOR.

However It is directly clear that verse 10 indicates, "for we are HIS workmanshi, created in JESUS CHRIST unto good works, which GOD HAS ORDAINED that we should walk in them."

What does that verse say, Ate Lee?
Does it say for us to ignore good works and that salvation is secured in just faith?
Does this justify ANYONE to do bad, kill, break all the laws and commandments that the prophets gave to the people (by command of GOD), and use salvation as a ticket to do bad and evil? Of course not!

We are commanded to walk in Good works! We are commanded to follow Christ and to pick up the cross in our own lives!

On the contrary, for those who are biblical literalists, then I suggest you read verses from James.

Let me share and provide you with some that support that salvation is secured in FAITH AND GOOD WORKS!

:What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,
16
and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?
17
So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18
Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
19
You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble.
(James 2: 14-19)

to Complete the message I am sharing with all of you!

: "Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless?
21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
22
You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.
23
Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called "the friend of God."
24
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone."
(James 2: 20-24)

YOU ARE SAVED NOT JUST BY FAITH!
BUT BY FAITH AND GOOD WORKS!

AMEN!

:)

Correction to All!

We are commanded that we walk in good works that justify OUR FAITH!

Don't be HYPOCRITES!

That believe and use faith alone, but whose actions are THE VERY ANTITHESIS OF THE FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS!

CHRIST JESUS TELLS US THAT HE HAS NOT COME TO THE WORLD TO ABOLISH THE LAW OF THE PROPHETS, BUT TO COMPLETE THE LAW!!

SO IF YOU BREAK THE LAW, YOU ARE SUBJECT TO JUDGEMENT!

----

Matthew 5:16:
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:17-20,
:"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is a good thread. :)

It is beautiful how the Catholic Faith has remained firm with its teachings these 2 thousand years.

The Protestant notion and defense is weak, imho.

Selective ilang variety.

Ang Catholic View, the TRUE VIEW, is to examine the Scriptural Words completely and in whole. And in Practice.

Legitimacy, in the end, falls into the Catholic View.

For who had the AUTHORITY to write and compile the Holy Bible.
The Roman Catholic Church, folks.

Always has. Always will. :)

hehe

"Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my works that justify my faith."

Message ni from James.

-----

Do you all want proof that good works and kindness amongst brethren justifies faith that saves?

I will show you!

Matthew 25: 31-46

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

WORKS!
SALVATION DEPENDS ON A JUSTIFIED FAITH!
GOOD WORKS JUSTIFIES FAITH!

Most important thing is that you take the 'take home message'

and not on selective verses that others provide.

:)

I invite everyone to Read Sacred Scripture.

And not just from the reiterations of select verses that others of us provide.

Ug mo open ang tawo sa iyang heart to the Holy Spirit, and in Loving And Surrendering yourself to Christ Jesus's Protection and Care, you are justified.

Justified ang faith, so you are blessed with faith. As we are told!
"You are city on a hill, a light unto the house. Let your Light shine before men so that they will see your good works and GLORIFY your FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN."

SO GLORIFY HIM!
BELIEVE! AND DO GOOD!

---

Don't be like the HYPOCRITES that just believe,
but whose actions are murder, lying, thief, adultery, conniving, cheating, destruction, causing tension amongst brothers, hate etc.

All the vices that are ABOMINABLE TO THE LORD GOD IN HEAVEN!

HYPOCRITES!

MAY THE LORD GOD REBUKE THEM!

REPENT!

For those that are Catholic Christians and Non-Catholic Christians.

I will reiterate the Apostolic Message that has been supported by the Roman Catholic Eccleciasticum since time memorial. From Papacy to Papacy. From Bishopric to Bishopric.

We, we who are brethren in Christ, make up the Family In Christ. We are to pray for one another, for one another, and raise our prayers to Christ, who is head, the High Priest of our Family.

You see, this is the basis of Roman Catholic Ecclessicum, "The Communion of Saints."

This communion begins in baptism, and continues on, even unto death.
We pray for one another; for the living and the dead.

For it is written , "That the prayers of the saints rises like incense unto the Throne of the Eternal Living God."

So pray. Pray continuously. Pray Hard. Pray in short form, in long form.
Make your request to the Lord God.

For Christ told us, brothers and sisters in the Faith, "He who knocks, the door shall be uponed unto you; for he who asketh, shall be given; for he who seeketh, he shall find; for he who asketh, he shall be given."
Ask it of Jesus' Name, and it will be given.

:)

My message to Roman Catholics (practicing and those who are re-tracing their way to THE CHURCH):

Do not be so worried in the views and in the comments of apostacy.
Do not be decieved.
For there is Only One Church
One Church that is Anointed by the Most High God.
One Church that was Established and rooted in Peter The Rock.
One Church that has the Power to Bind And Loose.
What is lost in earth, will also be lost in Heaven.
What is bound in earth, will be bound in Heaven.
As was promised by Christ Jesus to Peter.
The First Pontifical Head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Faith: Believe and Do Good.
Even to those who curse you and I.
Bless them. Bless them and pray for them. :)

God Bless!

I will nail the coffin shut, in this debate/discussion.

Purgatory is indeed biblical. For anyone to even question is ludicrous. How can anyone question the Roman Catholic Church's teachings as being 'unbiblical' when it was the Holy Roman Catholic Church that compiled and wrote the Holy Bible, and it was the Holy Roman Catholic Church that finally decreed and solidified the Divinity of Christ in the Council of Niceae as well as in Trent.

It was always the Holy Roman Catholic Church that has forwarded Truth and corrected the Apostacies and the Lies and Misunderstandings of a perverse generation.

There were apostates in the times of the EARLY CHURCH FATHERS, as there are APOSTATES even now.

Those who claim that Purgatory is 'unbiblcal' is not fully well versed in the Holy Bible.

Read 2 Maccabees 12: 42-46;
"Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out. The noble Judas warned the soldiers to keep themselves free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened because of the sin of those who had died. He then took up a collection among all his soldiers, amounting to two thousand silver drachmas, which he sent to Jerusalem to provide for an expiatory sacrifice. In doing this he acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in view; for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again, it would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death. But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin. "

(The book of Maccabees does not exist in the Protestant Bible; since the Protestant Bible is a simplified bible; it has removed some old testament books that are antagatory to their teachings. Note that the ORIGINAL BIBLE = THE CATHOLIC BIBLE.)

This is why I say and have argued this in my debate with Protestant brothers that the Protestant Bible is flawed. Flawed since it has removed Old Testament Books.

Everything that the Catholic Church teaches; from Cathechesis to Prayer is Scriptural/ Bible Based.

This is where the defense of Catholic Doctrina comes in: TRUTH IN SCRIPTURAL AND CHURCH TRADITION.

Glory be to God In the Highest.
Honor, Glory, And Praise belongs to HIM.

good works result from having doctrine resident in our soul(having the mind of CHRIST) when a person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her personal savior he/she must grow spiritually 2Peter 3:18 But you grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy spirit.
Works automatically result from being mature spiritually through post salvation epistemological rehabilatation(daily intake of the word of GOD)
When a person is born-again (spiritually)he/she is like a baby who needs spiritual milk or food, which is the Word of God, as he/she grow spiritually through PSER, he/she will recognize what is the plan of God for his/her life, that's the time divine good works happen.

It is impossible for anyone, living or dead to ever know what God's plan is; we live in Faith in prayer and supplication to ask for HIS Grace. Not to know his plan. It is impossible to know HIS PLAN.

And the LORD GOD said, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts."
 (Isaiah 55:8-9)

---

I stand by what is reiterated in James. Faith alone without works is dead.
Anyone can say with his mouth that he believes in Christ, and yet at the same time work in unrighteousness, in perversity, in murder, and all that is forbidden and abominable to the Lord God.

It is therefore, antagatory to His Message to Us.

Salvation is through Faith and Good Works.

----

James 2: 17-->
17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

James 2: 24,
24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

James 2:20-26,
20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is uselessa?  21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?  22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.  23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”b and he was called God’s friend.  24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?  26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Faith without works is Dead.

This is why when we ask for something or plan for anything, it is best to say (in ending), "God Willing" or "If God Wills It."

For no one can know God's Plan.

He Wills what Will Be. By HIS GRACE and HIS GRACE ALONE, we can accomplish the very little we can in life.

:)

God Bless,

you must make a decision to know and learn the plan of God for your life, if you use your volition not to learn His plan for you so be it, He will not force anybody to learn what is instore for you, He give us freewill for us to use whatever decision we make.

He gives us wisdom, he gives wisdom to the discerning, yes, of course.
That is provided to us in The Book of Psalm, but to know HIS Plan is impossible to be known.

That is why, in regards to prayer and supplication, we ask and pray to have HIS Grace to be showered unto our minds and hearts, most of all to comfort the soul.

To have the strength and courage to do what must be done for that day. The entire plan ins not made known to us until they day of Judgment.

It think it is wise for us to make difference between asking and seeking Wisdom, and from knowing God's Plan in our lives.

Wisdom he gives, to those who are discerning, and to those who seek her like silver.
But to know God's Divine Plan, is impossible. It is impossible.

The only Hope we, heirs of the sin of Adam and Eve, but justified and rectified in the Blood of Christ, which offers Salvation, is that to Hope for Salvation and Christ's Grace to rest upon our heads. Whatever the outcome and whatever the path that he leads us to.

You see, life in itself is a journey. A pilgrimage. We don't know the paths we will take, but we have a hope towards our destination.

There must be a clear differentiation between seeking wisdom, and asking for Grace (and recieving Grace), from knowing Providence' Divine Plan.

Only Providence knows His Divine Plan for each and everyone of us.

Again, Only GOD knows what HIS Plan is for us. It is for us to Trust In Him and seek refuge.
Jeremiah 29: 11,
For I alone know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.

God's Word is Christ Jesus. The Word Made Flesh.

In Him we were created, For All Things were Created in Him.

What we do Hope For is in Salvation in Jesus Christ.
As there is no other Name in Heaven where we will be saved.

Everything else, that matters and affects the body and this mortal toil is dispensible and unimportant. In the end, the salvation of the eternal soul through Faith and Works is what counts.

We have free will, yes, of course. But free will to do good and justify our Faith through Works that define our faith.

To focus on and dwell on earthly fruits is straying form the MAIN GOAL.

I reiterate, the REDEMPTION and SALVATION of the Eternal Soul is what matters the most.

Beatiful ning verse that assess this point;
Proverb 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all  your  heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

We Hope and Pray to God The Father, and Justify ourselves in Christ Jesus' Blood on the Cross, to hear ou supplications. To Ask for Mercy, Pardon, And Grace to continue in the toils. To humbly request Divine Consolation for the requirements in this vale of tears.
We ask that His Plan be Merciful towards us, by His Will.

We leave the KNOWING to GOD. And we keep the ASKING and PRAYING to ourselves.

:)

Yours In Jesus Christ,

We are all entitled to our own opinion, i just express my view on purgatory then somebody asked me about going to heaven so i also express what i have learned in our daily intake of the Word of God.  I can't express or discus my religion because i have none. We study the Word of God not using any religion's bible but we go back to the original translation of the bible. We study by categories, isagogics and exegesis method. We don't study religion, we study the Word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrows and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  :)

I want to provide more verses in The Holy Bible that reiterates Purgatorial Purification:

Isaiah 6:5-7
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Hebrews 12:22-23
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

---

So let us examine the thoughts and words of the Early Church Fathers regarding Purgatory. Let us examine the Foundation of the Early Church.

"And after the exhibition, Tryphaena again received her [Thecla]. For her daughter Falconilla had died, and said to her in a dream: 'Mother, you shall have this stranger Thecla in my place, in order that she may pray concerning me, and that I may be transferred to the place of the righteous.'" (Acts of Paul and Thecla, AD 160)

"The citizen of a prominent city, I erected this while I lived, that I might have a resting place for my body. Abercius is my name, a disciple of the chaste shepherd who feeds his sheep on the mountains and in the fields, who has great eyes surveying everywhere, who taught me the faithful writings of life. Standing by, I, Abercius, ordered this to be inscribed; truly I was in my seventy-second year. May everyone who is in accord with this and who understands it pray for Abercius." (Epitaph of Abercius, AD 190)

"[T]hat very night, this was shown to me in a vision: I saw Dinocrates going out from a gloomy place, where also there were several others, and he was parched and very thirsty, with a filthy countenance and pallid color, and the wound on his face which he had when he died. This Dinocrates had been my brother after the flesh, seven years of age, who died miserably with disease . . . For him I had made my prayer, and between him and me there was a large interval, so that neither of us could approach to the other. . . . and  knew that my brother was in suffering. But I trusted that my prayer would bring help to his suffering; and I prayed for him every day until we passed over into the prison of the camp, for we were to fight in the camp-show. Then . . . I made my prayer for my brother day and night, groaning and weeping that he might be granted to me. Then, on the day on which we remained in fetters, this was shown to me. I saw that that place which I had formerly observed to be in gloom was now bright; and Dinocrates, with a clean body well clad, was finding refreshment. . . . [And] he went away from the water to play joyously, after the manner of children, and I awoke. Then I understood that he was translated from the place of punishment." (The Martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicity 2:3-4, AD 202)

"The strength of the truly believing remains unshaken; and with those who fear and love God with their whole heart, their integrity continues steady and strong. For to adulterers even a time of repentance is granted by us, and peace [i.e., reconciliation] is given. Yet virginity is not therefore deficient in the Church, nor does the glorious design of continence languish through the sins of others. The Church, crowned with so many virgins, flourishes; and chastity and modesty preserve the tenor of their glory. Nor is the vigor of continence broken down because repentance and pardon are facilitated to the adulterer. It is one thing to stand for pardon, another thing to attain to glory; it is one thing, when cast into prison, not to go out thence until one has paid the uttermost farthing; another thing at once to receive the wages of faith and courage. It is one thing, tortured by long suffering for sins, to be cleansed and long purged by fire; another to have purged all sins by suffering. It is one thing, in fine, to be in suspense till the sentence of God at the day of judgment; another to be at once crowned by the Lord." (Cyprian of Carthage, Letters 51[55]:20, AD 253)

"But also, when God will judge the just, it is likewise in fire that he will try them. At that time, they whose sins are uppermost, either because of their gravity or their number, will be drawn together by the fire and will be burned. Those, however, who have been imbued with full justice and maturity of virtue, will not feel that fire; for they have something of God in them which will repel and turn back the strength of the flame." (Lactantius, Divine Institutes 7:21:6, AD 307)

"Then we make mention also of those who have already fallen asleep: first, the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs, that through their prayers and supplications God would receive our petition; next, we make mention also of the holy fathers and bishops who have already fallen asleep, and, to put it simply, of all among us who have already fallen asleep, for we believe that it will be of very great benefit to the souls of those for whom the petition is carried up, while this holy and most solemn sacrifice is laid out." (Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures 23:5:9, AD 350)

"The time which interposes between the death of a man and the final resurrection holds souls in hidden retreats, accordingly as each is deserving of rest or of hardship, in view of what it merited when it was living in the flesh. Nor can it be denied that the souls of the dead find relief through the piety of their friends and relatives who are still alive, when the Sacrifice of the Mediator [Mass] is offered for them, or when alms are given in the Church. But these things are of profit to those who, when they were alive, merited that they might afterward be able to be helped by these things. There is a certain manner of living, neither so good that there is no need of these helps after death, nor yet so wicked that these helps are of no avail after death." (ibid., 29:109)

I would like to remind and offer you and our Brethren in Christ to look into the writings of the Early Church Fathers; the men that were responsible in the compilation of the works of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (the foundationof new testament Bible). Read into the works and the notions of the Early Church Fathers, the debates on Christ's Divinity, and the Role of The Holy Spirit in the repudiation of heretical notions that came from excessive personal interpretation(s).

Enjoy and God Bless!

God Loves You, Pare Bambi. As He loves me (an unworthy Sinner), but what counts jud is our Love for Him. Despite our sins and our abominable iniquities, we nonetheless have HOPE in HIM.

For Christ said he came to the world not to call the righteous, but came to this world for the sinners. He came to this world to save not condemn.

The one who will judge will be The Father who sent Christ Jesus Into The World.

If you zeal your life in Love of and for Christ Jesus, and do your best--in applying your faith into works that shines your light amongst men, you GLORIFY your FATHER in HEAVEN.

By Faith you are saved. By Faith we are saved, if we have faith in Jesus Christ Our Lord.

But we should also be kind, good, and loving brethren amongst our brothers and sisters. Even If it is hard to do so at times.

Mao na, what Jesus Christ tells us, about Love.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
John 8:34

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Romans 12:9

Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Romans 13:10

speaking of boring ba kaha sa langit...i have this story.

Frank Sinatra arrives in Heaven, standing in front of the door, Holy Peter welcomes him.

"Are you Frank Sinatra?? asked Holy Peter. ;D

"Yes I am." Replied Sinatra.

"Are you the one who sold a hundred million of LP's with your beautiful voice?" asked Holy Peter.

"Yes I am." Replied Sinatra again.

"Were you the one who went out with most beautiful women in the world and married Mia Farrow?" Peter asked.

"That's correct!" Replied Sinatra once again

"Are you also the man who owned a huge ranch in Texas, bought a house in Florida with a private port and boat and also had a grand mansion in Beverly Hills?" Peter asked.

"That's true again" Replied Sinatra .

"Well," said Holy Peter "you may come in Heaven...hope you won't be disappointed..."

Hehehehe.

i dont usually talk about religion here but just wanna share something ive learned from the divine mercy services.

sorry to disagree but i think the above idea is a misconception. we, the living should pray for the dead in purgatory. not the other way around where the souls in purgatory pray for us.

englison na lng nako ha kay mas dali man ko ka explain  ;D

catholics usually pray for the souls in purgatory so they will be saved and accepted in the kingdom of God (heaven). when a person dies either with so many sins or many unresolved issues, the soul may not enter heaven or hell but into the state of purgatory or in limbo; at this stage the soul can not do anything like pray for the living...it is in limbo, hence they really need our fervent prayers to help them be forgiven and that they may rest in peace with the Lord.

if the soul is in purgatory, it will be stuck there till eternity if no one prays for the soul; the more prayers we do and the more frequent we storm the heavens with our prayers, then the Faith of the living will help save the soul.

that is why it is very important for us to pray when a loved one or a family member dies that God wll forgive him/her and may he/she rest in peace and go straight to heaven, and not languish in purgatory.

Purgatory is the state of purification before one ascends the ethereal clouds.
If one dies with mortal sin,
If one has died with a questioning faith,
for it is written that, 'Only children such as these who believe can enter the kingdom of God.'

To enter the gates of paradise, we have to have a purified faith in Christ.
WHO IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BE SAVED.
CHRIST, AND IN CHRIST ALONE.
And we must have works that speaketh for our faith.
For it is said that faith without works is DEAD.

REJOICE IN GOD'S MESSAGE OF SALVATION.
Let your light shine so bright, so that they may see your good works, and Glorify Your Father who is in Heaven.

:)

IN CHRIST,
lorenzo

Just for everyone to think and ponder,

Read Matthew Chapter 5, specially verses 13-16:

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Lorenzo is very productive in this thread. Why I posted this topic;
I was taught to have a guiding saint by a priest in St Mary Academy , Guindulman. He suggested that I keep on praying for the poor souls, they need our prayers and they pray also for  us in return when they reach their ultimate destination (to be with God in heaven).I was 15 years old then. Mora sila ug akong abay, basta I pray for them the standard way "eternal rest grant unto them ..."
When I arrived here in Germany, my life was turbulent, too sad to tell.  I keep prayin to the holy souls in the Purgatory and it´s like asking a friend for some support. I do believe they can intercede for us, every mass offered to them is enormous also daily rosaries. My life is not perfect, I´m not wishing one either, but in times of trouble I pray to Him and asks the holy souls for some helping hand.

Thanks for sharing that very colorful and beautiful personal anecdote, Manay Wilms, :)
I learn more about you every month!  he he he

You sure are right, manay. Romans 3;23 says it all, "For all have fallen short from the Glory of God, for all have sinned before God."

That is why we, members of the Communion of Saints, have to pray for one another. For the living and the dead.
We are all saints. You, your parents, mine, myself, our friends, etc etc. A saint is a person who believes in Christ. And is saved in Christ.

It is the greater continuum of the truths preached in Catholic Church; the concept of COMMUNION OF SAINTS.

:)

I like this thread. Keep up the great discourse!

The Church are the believers, and Christ is our Eternal Priest.

Who shares His eternal life through the breaking of bread and the sharing of blood in Mass.

When we eat His body and drink of His blood, we proclaim the death of Jesus CHrist until his second coming.

It is work of Salvation.

Are you a firm believer in Christ? Do you uphold the Truths of Scripture and Do you earnestly and faithfully accept HIS Body and Blood? Do you, in your heart, proclaim Christ as your PERSONAL RISEN LORD-KING?

Yes? Then you are saved.
Saved.

You will be counted in the Book of Righteous, at the Day of Resurrection.

BLESSINGS OF OUR LORD!

I think I have shared to you before that I cared for my father in-law now deceased, he was a protestant, he was a very loving person. I don`t know how to express my concern to him na-grabe ang iyang Alzheimer. I wished that he got a peaceful transition. I went to church with this wish in my mind, daily. Kalooy sa Diyos, nakaluwas siya, makit-an sa iyang nawong nga peaceful, he died at home. When he was taken by the personnel of the funeral, I gave them a rosary as something he take away with. Now I´m still wishing the same for my mother in-law, and I go to mass daily. What I did not expect that it is somewhat nourishing, spiritually speaking. There are no words to explain exactly how I feel. Daily masses is wonderful!

Lorenzo is very productive in this thread. Why I posted this topic;
My life is not perfect, I´m not wishing one either, but in times of trouble I pray to Him and asks the holy souls for some helping hand.

yes. we catholics always pray for the intercession from mother Mary, and from all saints in heaven to pray for us and intercede for us so our prayers will be answered.

Na mention ba ning purgatorio sa bibliya?

no direct word of purgatory pero daghan inferences sa bible like what Enzo has mentioned in page 8....

the belief of purgatory was further enhanced through God's private revelation to saints like St. Faustina (Divine Mercy).

Yes there is biblical reference to a state of Purgatory. In the Original Holy Bible, the Catholic Bible, there are books of 2nd Maccabees as well as Sirach (equivalent to Ecclesiastes) and other books that have been removed from the Protestant Bible by Martin Luther, since he, referring to Luther, disagreed with the books and declared them to be 'apochrypal books' or what the Catholic Church refers to them as Second Canon.

Protestants will say there is no reference to Purgatory in the Holy Bible, because well, simply put, Martin Luther and supporters of the Protestant Reformation removed books that vindicated the Teachings and Traditions of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, namely, reference to the Sacraments and the teachings of a Purgatory.

So, the argument will be deviated in the fact that they deny the existence thereof, yet at the same time, they are the ones that deny the accuracy and legitimacy of 2nd Maccabbees and Sirach. For example lang. :)

--

Slackware asked, "Where is a state of purgatory mentioned in the Holy Bible?"

I will answer this, by Grace of the Holy Spirit who commands me to speak.

:

2 Maccabees 12:42-46.

Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out.

The noble Judas ans his fellow comrades made prayers for the dead, as mentioned in 2nd Maccabees, which is an inspired Book in Old Testament. And it was through their prayers that the dead who died in sin were released and atoned.

For prayers of the living rises like incense before the Throne of the Eternal Living God.
Who hears and reads prayers according and appropriated before His Mighty Judgement Seat.

God, who hears all prayers, is a merciful Lord.
Did he not repay the faith of Job after his faith was tested by the devil?

Did he not repay the faithfulness of Mariam and family members of Lazarus when they cried in tears to the foot of Jesus The Christ?
The Lord Jesus Christ, who is MOST LOVING, was moved to tears!
And he resurrected Lazarus, then and there. :)

For the Lord God is a compassionate and Loving God.

Thanks for sharing that link, Manay.

:) I myself am a firm believer in the Catholic Teaching of 'Communion of Saints.'

That we all, brothers and sisters in Christ, are to pray for one another. The Living and the Dead.
