For we are God's co-workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must be careful how he builds upon it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there, namely, Jesus Christ.

-1 Corinthians 3:9-11

 :D

Each one of us has different spiritual gifts and talents given to us by God.  It is our duty, then, to use those unique gifts to serve Him.  One way that we can use those gifts is within our relationships and marriages.  Together, a couple can accomplish more as a team than they could ever accomplish on their own.

Like most couples, my wife and I share very different talents.  I am the laid back, creative one, and she is the organized taskmaster that keeps us headed in the right direction.  My weaknesses are her strengths, and my strengths are her weaknesses.  We balance each other out in every way.

One common trait that we share is our faith.  It may manifest itself in different ways, but we are on equal ground otherwise.  I like to enrich my faith through reading, writing, and speaking about it.  She is someone that likes to serve others, especially those less fortunate.  We each use our different skills to further the Kingdom of God.

Why am I sharing this?  My goals for Waking Up Catholic go beyond this website.  Eventually, I would like to publish a book and begin speaking (professionally) about the topics I cover here on a regular basis.  For the most part, this site has been my baby, but now, it's time for my wife to jump in, as well.

Obviously, I will continue to use the creative talents God gave me to move things along (writing, creating code, designing artwork), but I am going to begin involving her more in the day-to-day operations of Waking Up Catholic.  To make this ministry grow, it will take her unique talents and gifts to help organize and carry out our plans.

For a long time, this has been seen as "my" project, but in order for me to find any success as a writer and speaker, I will need her help.  So from this point forward, you may see her (virtually) around Waking Up Catholic more.  Please welcome her and say "hi."

Each day, my goal with the Daily Bible Verses is to look at a piece of scripture and teach you how to apply it to your life.  Today, I hope that I have given you more than just words, but my example to follow.  In your relationships, your marriages or otherwise, how can you use your unique talents to build up the Kingdom of God?

In the end, we are all co-workers in the Church.  The foundation has been laid for us by Jesus Christ, and we each help to build the Church, brick by brick.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:8-12

Jesus Invites You to Forgive Your Brother...
« Reply #1046 on: October 28, 2012, 01:27:02 AM »
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Jesus Christ reminds us to reconcile with someone you have hurt...
« Reply #1048 on: October 28, 2012, 01:33:03 AM »
Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough, so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.

“But you not so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger: and he that is the leader, as he that serveth. For which is greater, he that sitteth at table or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth.”

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith ...

And Jesus said, "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

–Luke 6:35-36

Those who sow in tears will reap a harvest of joy; for though they may weep while going forth to plant their seed, if they persevere, they will undoubtedly return rejoicing—bringing their sheaves with them.
