Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be." Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead -- since he was about a hundred years old -- and that Sarah's womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

I know I'm gone so far away this time  :'(

There is no such thing as a person who is so far 'away' from the mercy of God, Tohnichi. If you repent of your sins and ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness and direction in your life, He will do it. Remember Peter ?

If you open your bible and open to Matthew Chapter 14, I want you to read verses 28 to 31. This is important.

In Chapter 14 of Matthew we notice that Jesus gets out of the boat and walks on water. This was part of God's Plan in ministering His Word and in the revelation of the Glory of His Son to the disciples. We notice that Peter says to the Lord Jesus Christ, "Lord command me to the waters and I will come!"

Jesus then tells Peter, "Come!".

This is important, Tohnicihi. Because Peter is in fact the proto-us. His role is that of us. Jesus invites him to come to the waters, meaning, to come to Jesus Christ. Just as we all are invited to Jesus Christ.

If you continue to read on. You notice that Peter does walk, but begins to sink after his fear gets the best of him.

As Peter begins to sink, he yells out, "LORD, HELP ME!"

And what does the Lord Jesus Christ do?

Verse 31 reiterates The Lord's Faith-fullness: "Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him."

We all should remember this; in that when we need Jesus Christ's help, we should reach out to Him and have Complete Trust in Him, as what Peter had. Christ will rescue you, no matter what.

He is the Maker, Redeemer, Savior, the Lord of All Things.

God Bless and stay strong!

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.  2

Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

17Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

A Psalm of God's Comfort and Divine Reassurance
« Reply #637 on: July 15, 2011, 03:59:15 AM »
Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:

he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Praise the Lord!
Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord forever and ever.
Everywhere--from east to west--
praise the name of the Lord.
For the Lord is high above the nations;
His glory is far greater than the heavens.
Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
who is enthroned on high?
Far below Him are the heavens and the earth.
He stoops to look, and He lifts the poor from the dirt
and the needy from the garbage dump.
He sets them among princes,
even the princes of His own people!
He gives the barren woman a home,
so that she becomes a happy mother.
Praise the Lord!

Psalm 113

Sing Praise to The Lord!
Sing out your thanks to the Lord; sing
praises to our God, accompanied by harps.
He covers the heavens with clouds,
provides rain for the earth, and makes
the green grass grow in mountain pastures.
He feeds the wild animals, and the
young ravens cry to Him for food.
The strength of a horse does not impress Him;
how puny in His sight is the strength of a man.
Rather, the Lord's delight is in those
who honor Him, those who put their
hope in His unfailing love.

Psalm 147

Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
for those who keep the demands of his covenant.
For the sake of your name, O Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.

To fear the Lord is to recognize God for who he is: holy, almighty, righteous, pure, all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-wise. When we regard God correctly, we gain a clearer picture of ourselves: sinful, weak, frail and needy. When we recognize who God is and who we are, we fall at his feet in humble respect.

-1 Thessalonians 4:7

God expects us to be live a holy life. How do we live a Holy Life? Keep yourself pure from all what you see; all what you hear and speak; all actions you perform. By doing so, you will move away from sin and will move closer to God.

Yours In Christ,

    – 1 John 3:5

Christ was able to take away our sins because He was the only sinless man in the universe. In the same way, that we use fresh cloths to clean a mess, Jesus spotless life took the stain of our sin so that God would see our lives as spotless before Him. Does this seem too good to be true? That is why it is called the gospel, or the good news. God offers this to all of us today.  :)

    – Romans 8:3

Notice how the law is portrayed as powerless. It could never address the sinful nature; all the law could do was identify our weakness toward sin. But when God gave the law, He was setting the stage – the law was never supposed to deliver us. God gave standards that were so high that only God Himself could fulfill them. That’s what He did in Jesus Christ. The perfect man became the sin offering for all of humanity. This is the action that brings freedom to anyone who receives God’s mercy by faith.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.

Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."

     - John 12:23-26

The message of the gospel is so powerful that it is best described in the language of death and resurrection. It seems that as we follow after Christ we are brought to places where we must die to our will and plans. Unless we are willing “hate his life in this world” we will always go the route of safety and comfort. Yet the Christian walk is the road less traveled. Many times the roadblocks that we face can only be crossed when we let go our our lives to enter into the path that Christ walked on this Holy Week - a path of losing our lives to find them.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Why does God bless us? It’s not for our own purposes. As we see in this Scripture, God wants us to enjoy things, but He doesn’t want us to put our hope in the things that He gives us. Wealth, status, and power are all uncertain – they can disappear in an instant, but God remains steadfast above it all. Don’t base your joy upon what you have (or your disappointment upon what you don’t have). Look to the One who gives all of us the breath of life. Rejoice in the One who provides everything for us.

 â€“ Proverbs 5:21

There is no such thing as hidden sin. God not only sees what we do, but He sees why we do it! When we realize that nothing escapes God’s view, the need to cry out for mercy becomes real, for we need a Savior. Without that realization, we are still held captive to our sin, for we are not aware of our true need. Jesus Christ came to set captives free, but the chains that come off are the ones that we are willing to admit that we have.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"

But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Brothers and sisters:
If there is any encouragement in Christ,
any solace in love,
any participation in the Spirit,
any compassion and mercy,
complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love,
united in heart, thinking one thing.
Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory;
rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves,
each looking out not for his own interests,
but also for those of others.

Have in you the same attitude
that is also in Christ Jesus,
Who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding
on their journey, someone said to him,
"I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus answered him,
"Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests,
but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head."
And to another he said, "Follow me."
But he replied, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father."
But he answered him, "Let the dead bury their dead.
But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God."
And another said, "I will follow you, Lord,
but first let me say farewell to my family at home."
Jesus answered him, "No one who sets a hand to the plow
and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God."

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
