Defending champions Bohol Wisdom School Golden Dragons continued to breathe fire as they nipped arch rival Holy Spirit School Crusaders, 56-45 in the resumption of the ongoing elimination round of the 17th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 2nd John Geesnell Baba Yap inter-School Hoop Cup at the IHMS hard court.

Both teams were offensively anaemic at the start as they missed terribly easy shots even with the presence of their best shooters on the floor. But slowly they found their range as strong boy Feilbien Coquilla, Kevin “speedster” Mascariñas, and slow moving Lindy! Binoya were able to give the Golden Dragons the upper hand, 11-6 at the end of the 1st period.

The duo of Rocha and Villaruel continued to play heads up basketball exchanging firepower against the formidable combination of Coquilla, Binoya, Mascariñas, and slow moving Lindyl Binoya were able to give the Golden Dragons the upper hand, 11-6 at the end of the 1st period.

The sweet shooting Angelo Marcel Rocha and the versatile Jeff Villaruel, the 1-2 punch of the Crusaders were full of arsenals as they fought the defending champions the hilt to be behind by 3 in the preceding period.

The duo of Rocha and Villaruel continued to play heads up basketball exchanging firepower against the formidable combination of Coquilla, Binoya, Mascariñas, and team captain Kyle Panong to get closer by a hairline, 19-20 at lemon time.

And as the game went through in the third canto the slippery point guard of the Golden Dragons, Ven Excel Garrote and bull strong slot man, John Paul Romo joined the prey to take a wider margins 33-24, midway in the period. But not be outwitted were the 1-2 punch of the Crusaders, Rocha and Villaruel, who fought as if there was no tomorrow to keep the score within reach, 38-35 as the buzzer sounded ending the 3rd canto.

Meanwhile University of Bohol Baby Lemurs routed an undermanned crew of the Holy Family of Nazareth School Nazarethanians, 86-51 which appeared on court without streak shooters Mula and Almasa. Both players were chosen to compose the Bohol Association of Catholic Schools I.

The Baby lemurs feasted on this opportunity as Jayson Rey Bolos, Kent Mark Bag-ao, Rex Bangalao, Joseph James Morata, and Glenn Laureto conspired to make a break away in the first half, 48-35.

And as we entered in to the 3rd period tall boy Bongalao took control of the backboard and continued to pile in points to keep the Baby Lemurs ahead in collaboration with Bag-ao, Morata, Laureto, and Bolos.

Coach Lenard Simbit of the Nazarethanians had a tough times of looking for the right combination as his wards could not do what he expected them to do. They badly missed the services of Mula and Almasa.

The Golden Dragons were redhot as we go to the final quarter of the game as anybody fielded in by Coach Jay Daganato would contribute in the point production compared to the Crusaders which scoring output defended only in the duo of Rocha (22 pts.) and Villaruel 19 pts.) to remain at the top as the horn blew to end the regulation time. The final score, 56-45
