Davao keen on closing PLDT for failure to pay taxes
DAVAO CITY, Oct. 3 (PNA)--The Business Bureau will recommend to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte the shutdown of Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) operations for
failure to secure a business permit despite a Supreme Court verdict affirming the city's right to exact franchise taxes from the telecommunications giant. The City Legal Office also recommended distraint or seizure of PLDT's personal properties for failure to settle its remaining franchise tax obligations of P9.749 million after three demand letters.
