By Michaela de Callar

Philippine Ambassador to China Sonia Brady was brought to the hospital last Wednesday after suffering from stroke in her residence in Beijing, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.“It has been confirmed that Ambassador Brady suffered a stroke, but she is better now than when she was brought to the hospital last Wednesday,” Hernandez said in a text message.

“Her condition is continuously being monitored,” he added.

A retired career diplomat, Brady, 71, was appointed as envoy to China in May this year at the height of territorial disputes between Manila and Beijing. This is her second tour of duty as envoy to China.

Brady just recovered from a mild stroke before she was asked to take over the post that was left vacant for nearly a year.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Ambasador to China Sonia Brady, who suffered a stroke last week, will be replaced, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said Monday.

Del Rosario, in an interview with radio dzMM, said President Benigno Aquino has ordered him to find Brady's replacement.

"To improve her chances of full recovery, the President has instructed me today to start the process of finding a replacement for the good ambassador," he said.

He added that he has drawn up a shortlist of candidates for the position.

"Meron ho akong mga rekomendasyon sa Presidente. I expect to send those recommendations to him by either tonight or tomorrow," del Rosario said.

He said the nominees are all career diplomats.
