A teenager has told of how his knife-proof hoodie saved his life when he was attacked by muggers.
The 15-year-old victim was slashed more than 20 times across his back and arms when he was targeted by two men at a cash machine.
Speaking under the the pseudonym of John Cook, he said: 'I thought the mugger was hitting me at first, but then I saw the blood on my hands.
'When I got home, I saw there were loads of knife marks on the hoodie. I would have been cut up if I hadn't been wearing it.'
The trendy black Kevlar hoodies are made from stab-and-fire resistant material used in body armour worn by British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The jackets, which hit the shops earlier this year, were designed by a company in Romford, Essex, to protect teens from growing knife attacks on Britain's streets.
But John said: 'I knew about knife crime before but it had never affected me so I wasn't too worried about it.
'I only bought the jacket because I liked the look of it.'
Since the attack in Bethnal Green, East London, the teenager and his new £65 hoodie have been inseparable – and he has persuaded lots of his friends to splash out on one, too.
The hoodies have also proved a hit with female joggers and dog walkers – prompting makers Bladerunner to bring them out in baby blue and pink.

This is pretty cool, but you're going to have to dish out $130 USD.
