The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has launched the National Skills Registry System (NSRS) to solve the nagging
problem of jobs and skills mismatch.
DOLE Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena said NSRS is one of the labor reforms being pushed by President Benigno Aquino III as a solution to labor mismatch and to facilitate employment of qualified workers.
“The NSRS will serve as live register of skills and businesses available in a particular area, an avenue where jobseekers and prospective employers can mutually advertise their qualifications as well as manpower requirements,†he said.
Piloted in the City of San Fernando, NSRS allows workers to register in their respective barangays starting March 1, shortly after a consultation-briefing was conducted by DOLE for all Punong Barangays and Focal Persons in 43 of the city's 59 barangays.
On the other hand, the punong barangays in 16 remaining barangays were scheduled to attend the next round of consultation-briefing.
