More than a Boholano Mr. Dennis Drake of Dao Diamond Hotel
« on: June 27, 2012, 12:00:06 PM »
Can't help but admire this man who is more than a Boholano. An extra ordinary man!

It is not that we created for his hotel that long lasting first impression with total recall at http://www.ferotexphilippines.com

oops.  just a point of clarification, please.

what exactly does being "more than a boholano" entail?  does it mean that being extraordinary, like your idol here, raises one to become "more than a boholano" while the ordinary ones, the rest of the mere mortals, are simply "boholano"?

when else could a "boholano" be conferred with the title of "more than a boholano" aside from being an ultimate host of a hotel?  are there other possibilities?

is dagohoy qualified?  what about governor edgar chatto?  and tarsiers?  are they more, or less?

lastly, what is the synonym of "more than a boholano"?  does it happen to be cebuano, ilonggo, ilocano, bicolano, surigaonon, bisaya, luzoner, or martian? ;D

No offence meant but I really admire this man simply because he loves and cares for Bohol specially those handicapped. Yes he is extraordinary and I feel like he is more than a Boholano to me. May I know if you happened to know personally this man? Forgive me but I do not know who are the ordinary ones and the rest of the mere mortals you are referring to.

If you love and care for Bohol, i can also admire you to be more than a Boholano.

Dagohoy is not more than a Boholano. He is a hero! Gov. Chatto is not only more than but your governor. Do you consider Tarsiers as Boholano?

lastly, what is the synonym of "more than a boholano"?  does it happen to be cebuano, ilonggo, ilocano, bicolano, surigaonon, bisaya, luzoner, or martian?

Synonym can be one who loves and care for Bohol in deeds and in words.

hello, ferotex.  i hope you won't be too busy so you can come back soon.

No offence meant but I really admire this man simply because he loves and cares for Bohol specially those handicapped. Yes he is extraordinary and I feel like he is more than a Boholano to me. May I know if you happened to know personally this man? Forgive me but I do not know who are the ordinary ones and the rest of the mere mortals you are referring to.

and no offense was taken, honest.  all i wanted to know was some kind of definition of terms.  "more than a boholano" struck me as multi-tiered, that's why.  no, i'm sorry i do not know this guy personally, though i'm sure that he must feel at home in bohol, and that's already something.  as for the mere mortals that you're not familiar with, they must be the rest of the boholanos that you may have compared this guy to.  the phrase "more than..." impresses me that there exist others who are "less than".

If you love and care for Bohol, i can also admire you to be more than a Boholano.

i do love and care for bohol, and if you admire me for that and confer me the honor of being "more than a boholano", then you must mean that there are boholanos who do not love and care for bohol, and are thus "less than boholanos".  am i getting you now?

Dagohoy is not more than a Boholano. He is a hero!

so a boholano hero ceases to be a boholano because he has become a hero?

Gov. Chatto is not only more than but your governor.

and being governor, thus, he is beyond being "more than a boholano"?  henceforth, a governor ceases to be more than a boholano because he has become governor?

Do you consider Tarsiers as Boholano?

well, for as long as they are in bohol and boholanos won't deny the fact that they are in bohol, tarsiers couldn't possibly be called cebuanos.

Synonym can be one who loves and care for Bohol in deeds and in words.

thus there could exist hundreds and thousands of synonyms for "more than a boholano".  lorenzo is one among a myriad.  he is an amboy who gushes over bohol, in word and deed.  i hope to have truly understood you this time.

Well said and no one can argue with your thoughts.

Mr. Drake is the founder of the school for the deaf, mute and blind. Some graduates from this school are employed at Dao Diamond Hotel and other business created for them by Mr. Drake. Lucky for Bohol and the Philippines. How would you like to feature this man?

more than a boholano - ang term ani semantics man siguro di ko sure..my take on this is that, Mr Drake is more than a bol-anon, which is true, to those who claim to be bol-anons but has done nothing to improve, promote, contribute or develop anything related to the republic of bohol and the bol-anons as well..

I did not know that, Ate Lumine. Then the owner of the hotel should be commended for his civil endeavors to bring opportunity for those with physical limitations per se those who are deaf and mute. Truly very commendable!

The next time I am in Bohol I will check this place out.

Best,

if i'm not mistaken mr drake is one of the pioneering peace corps volunteer in jagna maybe in bohol who introduced the sign language. so a school for the deaf/mute was established in jagna central elem school in the early 80's until now.

there is also branch of garden cafe in jagna employing these PWDs.

It's quite inspiring to hear about Mr. Drake's humanitarian impact. The human services impact of the deaf/ mute school will continue to shape the lives of disabled people. In fact, I was quite happy to hear that the city of tagbilaran also provides training for the blind -- per se in massage therapy. It is inspiring to hear that the local government units as well as some private businesses endorsing the employment of persons with vision, hearing problems. Padayon!

well compared to western countries, inosente pa kaayo ang Pinas when it comes to PWDs but at least something has been done with the passing of the so-called "Magna Carta for PWDs" which was signed into law sometime in 2007 then some provisions were added in 2009 but still full implementation, recognition and acceptance by all stakeholders needs more time and effort.

Bai Bags, you're totally correct that the Philippine government is late to implement amendments for the rights and social services opportunities for persons with disabilities , but the good thing is that the government has implemented these laws into the constitution. Its encouraging and inspiring to hear that there are opportunities out there for people with disabilities. In that particular societal context, its good to know that our society is progressing in the right direction.
