Filomena Enerio-Lim

At 84, one would think she is up for pasture. After all, without stating the obvious, she already enjoyed life to the fullest. With sons and daughters all successful either in politics or business, there's nothing more she can ask for.

So, if she is called to face her Creator, she can say without batting an eyelash, “I am ready my Lord” That's exactly the difference between the aging Filomena Enerio-Lim and any other mortal for that matter. Widowed for 48 years, (she was married to one of the sons of Lim Tiao Co), Filomena, all throughout her waking hours, has since indulged in the field of philanthropy. And still counting her blessings at the ripe age of 84. Whether it was for a church donation to sending potential priests to the seminary, the grand old woman of the Lims is there to lend a helping hand.

Named after her husband Lucio, Sr., the business concern of the Lims located along J. Borja St. houses the family's Lite Shipping Corp., Brewpoint Coffee Club and Soledad Suites. The Lims own also the high end Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa and Casa Filomena.

They also own BCCTV, the first cable provider in Bohol in partnership with the LimChuas of Cebu. It may be worth noting that Filomena who was born in Loay was married to the late Lucio “Guy” Lim, the first CPA Bohol ever produced. Now, the old woman is in the mood of putting her money where her mouth is. As they say, home is where the heart is. And what better way to do it than make a generous mark in the town of Loay , her hometown. To put her message across in choosing Loay as the centerpiece of her benevolence, she is giving a monthly donation of P10,000 for and in behalf of the town's indigents.

This is music to the ears of the person in command of Loay's mayoralty who incidentally is held by Filomena's daughter-- Mayor May Lim-Imboy. The lady mayor must have occupied a special spot in the old woman's heart. She was only five months old when she was orphaned of a father. Back to her donation spree in Loay.

The amount may not be that substantial but the virtue of giving is all there is that makes it all the more gratefully appreciated. The question is asked, how long will the donation last? Of course, the answer is as long as her daughter is at the helm. And if grateful Loaynons may allow to add, for as long as the old woman is alive? No, if her heirs will have their way the donation lives on when a Lim foundation takes form to continue the legacy started by their matriarch, Filomena Enerio-Lim.

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."
