Salt Lake TribuneA Salt Lake City man is accused of stabbing a woman in the face after she refused to dance with him.
In charges filed Tuesday, police wrote that the woman was with two friends Saturday at the man's apartment, near 700 North and 900 West. The man, 29, allegedly grew angry when the woman refused to dance with him. He used a knife to slash her face, police wrote.
One of the friends tried to intervene, but the man knocked her down, hitting her in the face and on the back of the head, police wrote.
He then allegedly forced the stabbing victim and the friend out of the apartment but refused to let the second friend leave. The other two women could hear her screaming inside, police wrote.
The man is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and unlawful detention, a misdemeanor.
