A 70-year-old woman arrested in a dispute over her brown lawn pleaded not guilty Tuesday, then stood by as a Los Angeles lawyer waved handcuffs for the cameras outside court.

Betty Perry is charged with resisting arrest and failing to maintain her landscaping, both misdemeanors.

She was arrested July 6 after failing to give her name to a police officer who visited her home.

During a struggle, Perry fell and injured her nose. She spent more than an hour in a holding cell before police released her.

"I ask the citizens of Orem: How many of you would like to have your great-grandmother taken from her home with bruises and blood and placed in handcuffs for failing to water her lawn?" attorney Gloria Allred said.

"Let's bring sanity back to law enforcement," she said.

kalupy pod ni Lola..

Living in LA Mike, specially sa mga olds is soooo difficult, Lola must not have much money for maintenance that's why she didn't water her lawn.... dint you know how much it would cost her? plus her meds?

too much, mao bitaw nga some elderly will stay in an assisted living facility (kung maka afford) or Boarding house (for so-so) and nursing home (for cant afford).

Luoy kaajo sila kay they couldnt go anywhere, not like us mga foreigner kay inig ka tiguwang nato mo uli man ta sa Pinas...

So true, miss belle...to be old in America is to live a lonely, lonely life...

They are so hungry for love and affection kay mura'g gi dismiss naman lang gud sila by the rest of society as an afterthought. This is why I think our lolos and lolas are so much luckier coz they have their children and grandchildren showering them with much needed attention.

Daghan kong alaga nga mga tiguwang sa una nga lonely kaayo. Even their own children don't care about them. They live alone in their house, with only a pet to keep them company. Although wala sila nag kuwang sa material things, pobre kaayo sila in terms of love.

Mao bitaw mag huna2x ko's akong lola sa Pilipinas, medyo ma comfort nalang ko bisan mingaw kay I know she is surrounded by so many people who love her. Mag sige pa gani siya'g laag, mag uban2x sa akong sister mosuroy sa malls.

It is like a good writer who writes a good novel, but could not sell a book.

Macky, I was working in a travel magazine in Davao and every time we had an ad campaign we ended up frustrated.

Filipinos have not grasped the power of advertising, let alone the power of the Internet.

In Thailand, hot girls are even advertised in brochures.
