10 Weirdest And Bizarre Causes of Deaths
« on: May 24, 2011, 11:24:48 AM »
1.) Bestiality is Dangerous

This is the most absurd thing you’ll ever hear. In 2005, Kenneth “Mr. Hands” Pinyan of Washington, USA
died of acute peritonitis after seeking out and receiving anal intercourse from a stallion.
This is an act he had been engaged many times without injury.
Pinyan delayed his visit to the hospital for several hours out of reluctance to explain the circumstances of his injury to doctors.
The case led to the criminalization of bestiality in Washington. His story was recounted in the award winning 2007 documentary film “Zoo”.

2.) Gluttony Kills

Gluttony is a sin and it kills! Have you heard of the king who ate himself to death?
King Adolf Frederick of Sweden died because of over-eating. On February 12, 1771 he consumed
a meal consisting of caviar, champagne, lobster, sauerkraut and smoked herring plus 14 servings
of semla served in a bowl of hot milk, his favorite dessert.

3.) Stupidity or Carelessness?

We should always remember that water is a good conductor of electricity.
In 1978, Claude Francois, a French pop singer and the writer of the original version of “My Way”,
died of electrocution when he tried to change a light bulb while standing in his bathtub that was full of water at the time.

4.) Be Careful with Your Scarf

Wearing scarves can be dangerous. In 1927, a dancer name Isadora Duncan died of a broken neck
when one of the long scarves she was known for caught on the wheel of a car in which she was a passenger.
She is regarded as the creator of modern dance.

5.) Toothpick Can Kill

Ask your dentist and he/she will never advice you to use toothpick.
Dentists would rather suggest using dental floss. Sherwood Anderson, an American novelist and short story writer,
died in 1941 after accidentally swallowing a toothpick at a party. She died later of peritonitis.

6.) Committed Suicide During a Live Television Broadcast

The year was 1974 and I thought I was too young to remember this weird incident.
Christine Chubbuck, an American television news reporter, committed suicide during a live broadcast on the 15th of July.
At 9:38 AM, 8 minutes into her talk show, on WXLT-TV in Sarasota, Florida, she drew out a revolver and shot herself in the head.

7.) Even Blank Bullets Can Kill

We have heard it many times don’t make fun with a gun. In 1984, the handsome Jon-Erik Hexum,
an American television actor and model, died after he shot himself in the head with a prop gun during a break in filming,
playing Russian roulette using a revolver loaded with a single blank cartridge.
Everyone should take note that blanks have gunpowder that explodes into gas with enough force to cause
severe injury or death especially if the gun is fired as contact shot.

8.) Committing Suicide on a Televised Press Conference

You think it’s on the movies only that you’ll see people killing themselves by putting a gun on their mouth?
It also happens in real life. In 1987, Budd Dwyer, the State Treasurer of Pennsylvania, committed suicide during
a televised press conference inside his office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in the USA.
Faced with a potential 55-year jail imprisonment for alleged involvement in a conspiracy, Dwyer shot himself in the mouth with a revolver.

9.) Having Fun is Extremely Dangerous Too

Cactus plugging is a favorite pastime of some people. In 1982, David Grundman was killed while shooting
at cacti for fun with his shotgun. After firing several shots at an 8 m tall Saguaro Cactus from a very close range,
a 4 ft limb of the Cactus that was weakened by the gunfire detached and fell directly on him, crushing and killing him.
The incident took place near Lake Pleasant in Arizona, USA.

10.) A Thrill-seeking Teenager

Wear your seatbelt! A horrible incident in 1995 claimed the life of a 14 year old girl.
She fell about 25 ft high to her death while riding the rollercoaster called the Timber Wolf at Worlds of
Fun Amusement park in Kansas City. She unbuckled her seatbelt and maneuvered herself free from the lap bar
and restraint devices in an attempt to switch seats with a friend.
