It is very powerful, the lyrics, in its original Spanish version spews out such exceedingly fervent nationalisimo. The dichotomy utilized is similar to that used in Latin American countries' national anthem; per se in Mexico, Argentina, and Peru. The words used in our national anthem pierces through the heart and soul and brings us back to the old days, of what our ancestors fought for, for what they gave their sweat, toil and blood for. It is very humbling, so much raw passion and nationalism in the Marcha Nacional Filipina

The Spanish Version:
Tierra adorada
Hija del sol de Oriente
Su fuego ardiente en ti latiendo esta.
Patria de amores!
Del heroismo cuna,
Los invasores
No te hallaran jamas.

En tu azul cielo, en tus auras,
En tus montes y en tu mar
Esplende y late el poema
De tu amada libertad.
Tu pabellon, que en las lides
La victoria ilumino
No vera nunca apagados
Sus estrellas y su sol.

Tierra de dichas, del sol y amores,
En tu regazo dulce es vivir.
Es una gloria para tus hijos,
Cuando de ofenden, por ti morir.

English Version:
Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning,
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.
Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne'er shall invaders
Trample thy sacred shore.
Ever within thy skies and through thy clouds
And o'er thy hills and sea,
Do we behold the radiance, feel and throb,
Of glorious liberty.
Thy banner, dear to all our hearts,
Its sun and stars alight,
O never shall its shining field
Be dimmed by tyrant's might!
Beautiful land of love,
O land of light,
In thine embrace 'tis rapture to lie,
But it is glory ever, when thou art wronged,
For us, thy sons to suffer and die.

Our Anthem played on the colonizer's soil
« Reply #6 on: December 18, 2007, 11:23:52 AM »
The following is of the Filipino National Anthem being played in the Kingdom of Spain, in front of the Royal Spanish Palace. Played by the Royal Spanish Honor Guard in honor of the President of the Philippines, President. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

This is beautiful. The proud and glorious Philippines, being hosted by Spain. And having them play our anthem, the very anthem that was played as the siege of Baler took place in 1898.

My heart rings proud after seeing this video.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!!

Spanish King Juan Carlos I (the great great great great great great great great grandson of Emperor Philip II, who the Philippines was named after) and Queen Sofia de Grecia, together with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, stand in attention as the Philippine national anthem is played
