One of the ships in this video is the newly acquired Cyclone-class Fast Attack Missile Ship that the United States gave to the Philippine Navy in 2004. The Cyclone-class ship, combined with the three Peacock-class corvettes of the Philippine Navy composes a formidable combat group. The four ships combined with support ships, are able to neutralize air-to-surface missiles from an attack ship or from an attack plane. The ships are also able to meet and repel a Jiangzhu-class Chinese destroyers.

The Philippine Navy, as an archipelagic naval force needs to acquire more of these littoral-ships as a repellant against larger, slower and cumbersome cruisers, destroyers and frigates from foreign navies.

The Philippine Navy is looking to purchase more Cyclone-class ships to augment its southern fleet, which is tasked in protecting Philippine territorial rights and interests against Malaysia, Indonesia.

At the moment, the majority of the Philippine Naval Fleet is tasked in protecting the EEZs (economic exclusive zones) of Manila and Central Visayas (Cebu).

American-made Cyclone-class littoral missile warefare ships.
Two or three of these ships are powerful enough to take down a frigate. Three or more of these ships are able to take down even a destroyer or a cruiser.

The newly acquired BRP General Mariano Alvarez, a Cyclone-class littoral missile warefare ship.
The BRP General Mariano Alvarez is the Philippine's first missile-based naval surface ship. The Cyclone-class ship in the Philippine Navy has Exorcet missiles, which are capable of punching holes even in a carrier or destroyers. This ship also has anti-submarine capability.

If the Philippines could get a squadron of these ships (5 to 6), the Philippine Navy would be feared again.
