our potential enemy are now fully automatics, using the most advance war machines available today. Let us not forget that cyber warefare is the war of the future. Lets take it on the cyberspace. Lets hire the most brilliant computer geeks from our talented workforce, hack china's communication and information system and know their plans about spratlys. Study their systems, and put a computer worm/virus that will destroy their system if war escalates, we will disrupt their communication and hack their own missile silos and use it against their fleet cruising the west philippine sea, sinking them before it will reach the Phillipine Shore. Deploy e bombs that will destroys any electronic and automated system available and by then the war will be back to manual, skills to skills, and employ guerilla tactics and invisible army. With more war experience AFP soldiers, we could win the war. Im not advocating war, just an out of the box idea. War my bring the best of us.

Green,

We would need to modernize quickly and to establish missile systems on our surface fleet ships as well as acquire modern air fighters so that we could neutralize any threat that comes to territories within our national jurisdiction.

It would be prudent for Pilipinas to exhaust all diplomatic resources to find a solution to this situation.

I believe that a war with China is a forgone conclusion. It would be devastating for Pilipinas. China is too powerful for us to fight alone.

God forbid we have a war with China...

yes, your right lorenzo. I think china is not foolish enough to go into war that would damage their economy, their international image that took them so many years to build. China image now is like an ASIAN bully, an international thief by claiming all territorial waters and resources that no longer belongs to them even if its FAR AWAY from Mainland Territory.

You are right. China does look like an ASIAN bully by pushing its much smaller neighbors especially with its preposterous territorial claims. I do not think that China will attack Philippines because if it did so , it would ruin its international image, as you mentioned earlier.

It is rather interesting to see that China never claimed the Spratly's before, only recently after it was discovered that the Spratly's contains untold billions of units of natural gas. If there are multiple countries claiming this region, then I think that all countries claiming it should have right to explore.

How China behaves and handles this situation will establish how it will be seen by other countries in this new century. Will China be an aggressive superpower or will she be an enlightened and gracious superpower? One can only wish for the latter...

What is also concerning is that China even claims Taiwan. China sees Taiwan as a 'rogue' province that must reunify with Greater China. If this happens then China will encircle Philippines.

Luoy kaajo ang Pilipinas. Our navy is still using 1940's warships. That ship would be easily sunk by a Chinese bomber.

China is strategic as it is wise. She knows that the ocean's sea lanes are akin to the spaces in a chess board. She (China) has already developed a naval port in Pakistan's port city of Gwadar. China is looking to contain India through her strategic alliance with Pakistan, the archnemesis of India. At the same time China is also developing a naval port in Burma, and another in Sri Lanka.

The problem here, rogamz, is that China does not and will not recognize the Philippine claim to Spratlys nor will it recognize other claimants such as Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia.

At this moment, the ASEAN claimants are shrimps swimming next to a very large and hungry whale.

Green,

the United States Defense Industry and Government is constantly under cyber attack by Chinese hackers. If we can imagine how large their (China's) hacking program is.

humabon was once armed with hedgehogs anti-sub weapons, but were removed because humabon's old engine cant keep up with its top speed... because of hedgehogs weight

Correct, not only government sites but it spills over to the commercial domain.  An economic hacking war of sorts.  Did you know that many websites that we can access are unavailable in China, not because of their government's 'Great Firewall' but because the website owners block the entirety of China?  That simple, but extreme, measure stops almost all hacking attempts because so much is coming out of China.  Such a shame for their honest citizens.

Indeed, indeed! It has been a policy for the Chinese Government to employ hackers to hack into US Government files, as well as foreign files. The Japanese company SONY has itself admitted that it has been hacked by Chinese hackers before. The Chinese are masters of breaking into codes , this is a reason why Cyber Security is important. In fact, I have a friend who is employed by the US Government's Norfolk Military Base as a cyber security specialist (tho he is a trained Computer Engineer). From our conversation before, it is a paramount issue for the US to battle international hackers coming from China whose goal is to break into US security channels.
