US-based medical mission conducted in Tubigon

      The Philippine American Cultural Society (PACS) of Marina California, the Filipino Community of Salinas Valley CA , and co-chairs of the 2000 Filipino Festival of Monterey CA together with Mrs. Herry Uy, proprietor of the Matabao Beach Resort (MABERES) in Tubigon was responsible for the medical mission in the municipality.

Also coordinating the activity were San Mante of Salinas California and Nelson Uy  of the AL-PAZ Inc. Cebu City.

      It wasa dream come true for the people of Tubigon that a free surgical/medical treatment that catered to  the needs of the less fortunate in the community.

Mayor Luna Piezas was much thankful that Tubigon wass again the recipient and chosen among the 48 municipalities in Bohol. The two- day medical /surgical mission was held at the Tubigon Community Hospital and Tubigon Cultural Center last February 16-17, 2010. Different minor surgical operation was done at the Tubigon  Community Hospital.. Free check-up and consultations to include free medicines were held..The 34 barangays of Tubigon were divided into two groups for the two-day activity to make sure that everybody was accommodated..

      The Medical / Surgical Mission Team was headed by Dr. Cesar Sinnaco family practitioner in California with wife Mrs. Estela Sinnaco.  Other members of the team  were Dr. Hermilando Payen, Surgeon/Pathologist- Arizona; Dr. Gildo Soriano, Internist and Neprhrologist – Hawaii;Dr. Carmelo Villa, General Surgeon based in Georgia with wife Mrs. Laura Villa; Drs. Rogoelio S.Mupas OB-Gyn and Dra. Thelma F.Mupaz, Pathologist in Washington; Dr. Romeo Puzon, OB- Gyn/Flight Surgeon –Washington, Dr. Visminda Payen Gonzalez – Dentist based in Arizona and Dr. Rogelio Rufo of Ohio.

      The team was also assisted by Dr. Rolan Caturza, Surgeon; Dr. Aligarbes, Family Medicine; Dr. Lunette Piezas – Villaren, Pediatrics; Dr. Michelle Cosgafa, Pediatrics; and Dr. Bob Bernabe Batausa, municipa health officer. Engr. Eufracio M. Mascariñas, the hospital administrator and Dr. Imelda Pedreros chief of hospitalwere very much supportive in the preparations of the venue and  accommodations prior to the event.     

      Mayor. Piezas expressed  his gratitude to all who have worked and make the two day medical mission a successful one. He mentioned the special participation of Mrs. Herry Uy  for the effort exerted and for  being instrumental of this activity.  Certificates of Appreciation were given and a farewell party..( Ghaya Astronomo – Castillo MPIO-Designate)
