PHL to host 4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy

MANILA, Jan. 3 (PNA) -- The country will be hosting the 4th World Apostolic Congress on Mercy (WACOM 4) to be held on January 16 to 20.

Fr. Prospero Tenorio, Chief Executive Officer of WACOM 4 said the country was chosen by the WACOM committee to be the host country of this year’s event.

“Sila ang pumili (sa Pilipinas). Meron kasi committee pumipili kung saan gagawin ang WACOM,” he said.

“Nakita kasi nila na organisado ang Pilipinas na ‘yung connection with the Divine Mercy promotion. Meron tayo tinatawag dito sa ating bansa “BOSOM,” na ang ibig sabihin ay Basic Orientation Seminar on Mercy that’s why in the National Shrine every month meron tayo ginagawa Bosom. Upang ang mga tao ay matulungan sa pagpapahalaga, pag-unawa sa awa ng Diyos,” he added.

More than 3,000 participants from the Philippines and other countries are expected to attend the five-day event.

“More or less ang ating local ay 2,888 plus 722 and international kaya more or less we have 3,610,” the Catholic priest said.

The places that will host the gatherings are Manila, Batangas, Bulacan and Bataan.

On the other hand, Tenorio said that Pope Francis will be sending a representative to deliver his message.

“Meron siya legate in the person of Philippe Cardinal Barbarin from France siya ang magdeliver ng message,” he added.

The other countries that hosted the first three WACOMs are Rome, Poland, Colombia, respectively.

WACOM, which is being held every three years, is an international gathering of Divine Mercy devotees and promoters such as bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters and the laity. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
