States Now Fund Majority of Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research

States, not the federal government, now fund the majority of
human embryonic stem cell research conducted in the United States, according to
a study by Aaron Levine in the journal Nature Biotechnology.  In addition, much of the research performed
in the states could likely have been funded by the National Institutes of
Health under federal guidelines established by President Bush in 2001.
