Netbooks are mainly designed for emailing and web-browsing.  You can't expect to use your netbook on photo-editing, gaming, etc. Therefore, netbooks is not a replacement product for notebooks.

Actually, Macs are designed in America, assembled in China, and the parts were coming from all over (although mostly from China).

I purchased a macbook aluminum recently and noted that the Hard drive was manufactured in Pinas, by Toshiba (in the Techno park in Laguna).

netbooks can not replace laptops but is it an alternative for those on the go and low on budget.

however, not all netbooks are limited in functions. ASUS N10J has nVidia GeForce 9300M GS 256 MB graphics card for some 3D gaming and can easily run Photoshop CS4 and some video editing programs. i'm sure there are newer netbook models that are very competitive to the regular laptops now.

in addition, mobos, memory chips, and other electronic cards (sound, video) even the old floppy drives were made in Pinas mostly by Intel.

too bad, Intel is closing its operation in Pinas and moving to China. daghn na sab mga unemployed IT staff.

The change of production to cut costs could be triggered by the news that Intel is fined 1.06 billion Euro ;  European Union Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes stated the following regarding the decision, “Given that Intel has harmed millions of European consumers by deliberately acting to keep competitors out of the market for over five years, the size of the fine should come as no surprise.”
