Boasting of more than 115 million worldwide members,
Friendster, one of the world's leading global social website is targetting at least 70 per cent of Asia's burgeoning youth subscribers between ages 16 to 24 with a redesigned system.
Friendster's, Ben Dunn, vice president and global head of brand experience based in Mountainview, California said on Friday's press launch at the Fort's Global City in Taguig that a new brand and web site packed with new features that focuses on fun, relevance and simplicity.
"Building on Friendster's position as a leading social network, the redesigned site is a clean, simple approach to sharing, communication and customization," Dunn told mediamen.
Saying that recently published figures show that Friendster's strength in Asia's youth is the largest and faster growing region of the world for
internet and and mobile phone usage, Dunn rattled some new features like-- Friendster.com is more colorful, entertaining and fun.
What's more, the site is more simple and easier due to favorite features like Shoutouts, messaging, friends, games, comments, editing profile, birthdays and bulletins.
The user has a new homepage. Once users log into the new Friendster, the first thing they'll find are ll the important stuff they want--their friends and new updates.
More info on the Profile Page: Newly designed "About Me" section at the top with larger version of their primary picture and a new "Profile Progress" to express progress towards a complete profile.
Easier Sharing-- Forwarding content to friends and sharing photos with your network is easier, through icons within Network Activity Stream, and their Shoutouts and Shoutout Stream.
The Friendster Gift Shop-- Users can now send gifts to friends. The new Gift Shop helps users show their friends they care and the new Treasure Chest means users can show off special gifts they receive in return. They can also send gifts to one another quickly and conveniently.
The new Friendster Wallet-- New coins can be spent or store on Friendster in a currency called Friendster Coins, which can be spent for buying gifts, new and upcoming goods and services.
Users can buy physical pre-paid cards at thousands of offline locations throughout Asia such as 7-Eleven. The
Friendster Wallet can receive accounts and it comes with 1,500 Friendster chips.
Dunn said most of the new services will be available in the first three months of 2010. (PNA)
