The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Tuesday said it has filed 100 counts of hacking and anti-violence against women charges against a 23-year-old man.
It said the man hacked the
Facebook account of his ex-girlfriend and afterwards threatened to post their intimate pictures at a motel on the Internet.
Director Samuel Pagdilao, Jr., CIDG chief, said operatives of the command's Anti-Transnational and Cyber Crimes Division earlier arrested suspect Joewell Santos Chan, 28, and a resident of 26 Milkyway Bricktown, Moonwalk, Paranaque City.
He is charged with violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 and with 100 counts of hacking under the Electronic Commerce Act and Child Pornography.
The charge has been filed with the prosecutor's office which will determine if formal charges should be filed in court.
Pagdilao warned people similarly engaged in hacking and coercive activities via the Internet that the CIDG will decisively deal with them with the enactment of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
He also advised all cyber citizens to always secure their identities and passwords even with relatives to prevent falling prey to cyber criminals.
