Pamilacan Island is a small island which is part of the municipality of Baclayon. It is between the deep sea of Bohol and Mindanao. It is only a 1-hour pump or outrigger boat ride from the town of Baclayon. Please click link to see more photos and read more:

You were showing the Pueblo de Pamilacan, a high end resort operated by the owners of Eskaya, if am not mistaken.

It indeed is exorbitant.

For Boholanos however, there is a community based and operated tourist center just beside that old fort on the side of the island facing Baclayon.

They have very basic amenities, but i love the real feeling of sleeping in a payag with banig buli, the smell of burnt kerosene lamps, or rumbling waves and being in the middle of a fishing community with fishermen peddling their freshest catch right before your payag doorstep.

And they offer dolphin and whale watching tours too, for these are the real guys who were affected by the whale hunting ban.

Snorkeled last Sunday sa Marine Sanctuary sa Pamilacan. Indeed, its the best value for the P200 i paid for the rented snorkel and protected area access.

Wished i had an underwater cam, saw this school of jackfish so thick you'd feel like suffocated and you could feel the water throb as the school moves.

Down side?

I saw a Korean tourist who had a handful of collected sea shells and corals from the sanctuary. I though she could swim but she was just there standing at a reef with snorkels and all. I could imagine the broken corals she stepped on.

Makabadlong kaha ang taga Pamilacan ani nilang mga turistang way batasan?

Fesada, a whale watching boat owned by Fe and Sanie Baugbog used to be whale hunting boat but is now transformed as a whale and dolphin watching transport boat. Nong Sanie's Family is my host when i go to the island.  :)
