Gov. Erico Aumentado offers the Bohol Cultural Center (BCC) as venue for the Miss Bohol International beauty pageant which is part of the Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) in July.

The offer of the governor came amid reports that there are certain activities of the TBTK which are in need of proper coordination between the organizing group and the local government unit.

The offer came during a meeting with organizers of this year's hosting of the TBTK here, July 14-26.
The governor met with Liklik Gallares Schroder, Rose Soy, Betty Balatero and City kagawad Mariquit Oppus at the Capitol last week.

The meeting came as activities were already finalized.

Gov. Aumentado designated Prov'l Administrator Tommy Abapo Jr, to preside a meeting on Wednesday among the event coordinators and the chairmen of the various committees.
The governor wants the preparations to take off especially that Pres. Arroyo will formally welcome the Boholano balikbayans during a courtesy call at Malacanang on July 14.

Added attraction is the First Bohol Sandugo International Film Festival on July 25-31.
Registration to TBTK events opens on July 15 at Metro Centre Hotel, Tagbilaran City. Early registration before May 30 will be discounted.

Tinuod jud na imo observation (re: pasmo) pero mao paman gehapon mag paso2x paman gehapon mga byuties nato hangtod rong panahona, as long as they have beauty pageants around. Mao sad hangtod karon ang mga tawo mahilig gehapon mg suroy-suroy ug laag-laag maski dili ni makatabang sa ilang pagka pasmo. Makagutom paman gani samot ning laag hehehe. Life goes on whether we like it or not man...

Bitaw, salamat gehapon sa comment, I'm just posting and adding sa thread and help promoting something, kay duna may ni request nako, even if I'm not attending the event. That's all!

Mao jud nay sige nakog dokdok (sa akong panudlo) sa una pa, sa college pako, nga we're teaching our young not the most important things in life kondili daghan kaayong vanities and less trivial things... pero unsaon man nato na, we live in this part of life and we have to deal with all these earthly things, too. With or without us, magpadayon man gehapon ni... and we, too, are guilty of such (less trivial stuff nga di makasulbad sa pagka pasmo sa katawhan) every now and then. Tell me if you haven't. Unsaon man mao man pud ni ang kalipay sa uban, nga ipasundayag ilang "kaanyag" sama sa atong mga anak ug mga kabataan nga muangay pod moatubang ug "samin" just like when we were their age, too. So?

On the part of some parents, mao sad ni ilang gipang damgo sa ilang mga kabataan... so I can't disagree with what they're set to do.

Well, that's just my simple way of understanding some things or how things are. Besides, there are many good things, too, that they do in life and for the community whether we realize/admit it or not. Just like we do. Usahay maayo sad tag mga binuhatan and at times things we do things we can't be proud of. I've never been a civic-minded person myself but I do salute those who are. I try find my niche in life somewhere. And this is probably one of them... nga mo appreciate ug modayeg na lang nila, support them (pray for their success) and make use of my "time" and "expertise" (kunohay) sa buhay-internet... which is another waste of time (and very impersonal) if not to satisfy my need of it as anti-dote for homesickness and for being out of circulation from family and friends. Besides, it's a thread at TB I feel I can share a little something. Kay kung di pa pod, mohilom lang pod hahaha.

Do I make sense, everyone? So ayaw nalang god palag bwahihihihi....

I'm interested what you all think about Bohol's effort to boost tourism? Uyon ba mo ani or dili? What about Sandugo? In what way is it helpful sa pagsulbad sa kagutom or dili? What about enjoining our fellow Bol-anon nga mouli sa atoa - whether panahon sa TBTK or dili - uyon mo ani or dili? Are these positive things for the province and for the people?

Kon dili mo uyon, then I can't disagree with your points of view. But kung uyon mo nga makatabang diay ni ginagmay but you're just being selective... hmmmm. I might have to question your motives for saying things.

One thing, ga skedyul man lang ni sila ani para duna silay mga kalingawan, igo raman pod sila nag invite if anyone is interested in attending (kay daghan baya pod hilig aning mga butanga ug daghan baya pod mag enjoy and some come to Bohol just for that) unya wa man pod ni sila mamugos nga mo attend tanan hehehe. Just a thought...

Thanks, Father, for your comments. You make sense, as always. Naa man pod siguro mga projects ang TBTK for the poor ug naa pod mga kalingawan like this pa beauty contest. Alangan man pod tanan na lang pod mang dole out.

Kami bitaw, tagaan ug livelihood means ang mga pamilya like baruto ug pukot, ipangbaligya man pod. hay, kakapoy. It takes more than TBTK to change the way of life but sure they can help, and I think they are helping.

para naho, di naman jud knahangln ning mga lokal byuteh contests kay daghn na man sab na sa Manila. pero og mao ning na-andan nila og gusto nila nga mag katigom og magkahiusa ang mga lain2x grupo og organisasyon, cge na lng.

however if it's to boost eco-tourism industry, i don't think so. if they are serious in promoting tourism industry, they should spend their energy in protecting the environment.

To start, they should create a sanctuary in Bohol like what they did in Palawan in Tubbataha reefs to protect the bio-diversity of the sea creatures. One of the new topics here is the dolphin and whale watching area in Bohol...that should be protected so local fishermen will not hunt and kill these 'cetaceans'. first and foremost, they should protect the corals because once that start to diminish and die-off, all the rest of the planktons and the other sea dwellers will gradually disappear.
example: dapat bawal baligya mga dried corals sa merkado or make it into law that coral harvesting is illegal.

another topic i like related to promoting tourism is the 'no guns allowed' and Safety initiatives in selected areas. this should be supported and enforced in order to attract more tourists to choose Bohol as their primary destination when they want to travel to enjoy and have a safe adventure.

the more safe tourist areas, the more jobs and food para sa atong mga sano og mga sana

Bitaw naa bitaw pod, like the medical mission. Ako papa bitaw natabangan man ani (sa iyang cataract) kay saonz wa man tawon tay ikabayad, while here on the other side of the globe we're enjoying tremendously the benefits of being on this side, maski daghan pod ta reklamo sa kinabuhi deri hahaha. Parehas sa una, matinga mga taga Catigbian nganong muadto ko didto (gikan sa America) unja adto rako mag tambay2x sa payag sa akong lolo mag inum-inum tuba for the whole duration of my vacation. Unja larga napod inig human. Ngano kunong mouli pa man kuno ko nga lami man nang America, kuno... hahaha! I really can't blame them for their perception... kay mao man poy atong makita sa sine sa una. The adage "No place like home" makes even more sense the farther you are away from home hehehe.

I agree with you totally JJ... all of it. No, I don't think beauty contests help boost tourism. But kana sila mismo nga gapasiugda anang Miss Bohol INTL mao na sila ang mga "turista" (balikbayan) mismo nga nanguli kay morag sa TBTK man na sila nga event, while the Miss Sandugo Pageant I understand is the government-sanctioned. Kalingawan ra man jud tingale na as part of their tigum-tigum. And like the sanctuary-related and gun-control related issues nimo, samot nang uyon ko. The safer, the cleaner and more-nature-friendly we are, needless to say, is what make our place even more attractive besides the wonderful things we claim to already have - the beauty that is Bohol!

In my own littlest way, kay di man ta apil-apilog kaau aning mga dagkong tigum tungod sa kagipit sa oras, the least I can do is teach my household in Cabawan nga dili mag labay2xg basura bisag asa, mag garden2x ug plant more trees, etc. Mga bata pod sa Cabawan muna-muna pod ko explain nga di maayo nang mamintik ug langgam just for the heck of it and explain to them why? Makasabot ra baya pod sila hehehe.

Yeah kahinumdom pod ko atong Miss Philippines ba to last year wa magka dimao pero naka 2nd place man gehapon. Unsa na kaha dagan ato sa giapilang International Contest nga siya maoy gipada?

The good news I heard sa Miss Bohol INTL kay ang usa nga local contestant adtong 2006, Rachel Angalot ( see Contestant #5, Beta Epsilon candidate) eventually end up winning sa Star Struck sa GMA ba to ni and is now a popular celebrity star sa atoa nga hilig aning mga butanga. She's now known as Rich Asuncion. Not bad! So naa man diay pod maayong kadungan sa mga mahilig ani coz it gave them other opportunities in life. Makadasig pod sa uban nga byuty ray gisaligan kay intawon anak man sa pobreng **** (matud pas ubang katiguwangan) hehehe.

Nilarga ko July 17th paingon deri. I was invited sa Metro CTR pero ga sige paman to sila registration. Lain pod ako tuyo ato, ga follow up lang sa ila plan to proceed with the TBTK CD Album, tabang lang ko gamay tungod sa kapit-os sa ilang panahon. Pero wala gehapon koy news hangtod karon kung naunsa na to na plano hehehe
