Ging, I only have conjectures as answers for now. It may be a portmanteau of the Spanish word "la" and the Visayan word "manok." It is probable that chickens were associated with the island since it could have been the customary offering to the anitos. However, "Lamanok" may also have been a proper name in the past. I have to stress that it is customarily spelled "Lamanoc." It is only out of personal preference that I use "k" for "c".
Mr Sigbin, kanang Lamanok, is that a barrio in Anda?
