Why it's called Lamanok?

Ging, I only have conjectures as answers for now.  It may be a portmanteau of the Spanish word "la" and the Visayan word "manok."  It is probable that chickens were associated with the island since it could have been the customary offering to the anitos.  However, "Lamanok" may also have been a proper name in the past.  I have to stress that it is customarily spelled "Lamanoc."  It is only out of personal preference that I use "k" for "c". :)

That's what I thought, being associated with chicken. Not with anitos, but on it's form or how it looks like.

I was wrong then. Thanks, Sigbin.

Speaking of stone age, there must be some presence of "un-natural" power source.

I'd have to agree that the place is awesome and well, creepy~

I've been to the place, summer of this year, backpacking with a dirtbike for little comfort--I was planning to traverse the Anda-Candijay road, at the peninsula's tip, but changed my mind when I reached the forested part, way past Lamanoc. Dang! It scared the wits out of me. Only later was I told that it is rebel-infested. Speaking of goin' banana's and almost burst the bubble. Phewww!

In a way it may be creepy.  I'd just like to think that it's sacred ground, hallowed by tradition and the faith of our forefathers.  Wa hinuon ko kahibaw og naa bay wa nag-sapatos didto. It seemed quite peaceful when we went there. :)

Oh, I see. I discovered karon lang that it's a sacred ground. At any rate, I should visit the place again, when the schedule this break is favorable.

Thanks for the info

We should see the caves at the Lamanoc Point! at one time, there were mandibles laid out in an interesting fashion inside a cave off the point. and there were wooden coffins inserted in the crevices of the cave.

That was a looooong time ago.

Oh my God, am that old? :o
