The recent bombing of Tower 60 of the
National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in Barangay Camanaga, San Miguel could be the handiwork of the same individuals behind the bombing of another NGCP tower in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Sagbayan in December last year.
This came after comparison of the kinds of explosive devices used showed that they were of the same kind.
While investigators already traced the motive of the Sagbayan incident to a case of disgruntled lot owners whose properties are traversed by the NGCP backbone project, they have difficulty confirming the specific identity of the actual persons who did it.
However, investigators find it too early to conclude on something at this time as they want to make sure all angles are explored and lead to truth.
Tower 60 in San Miguel inclined by at least 15 degrees as a result of the blasting and is feared to affect the power transmission to different parts of the province.
Governor Edgar Chatto called on NGCP officials to immediately repair the damaged facility, so that service to the consumers can resume immediately.
Though the NGCP has no words linking the recent power outage to the bombing incident early dawn on June 24, it shows that the affected Ubay-Corella-Tagbilaran 69 kV transmission line experienced tripping, affecting consumers of BLCI, and Boheco 1 and 2.
The latest tripping occurred a few minutes before 10 a.m. Saturday.
As of press time, no follow-up report reached Camp Dagohoy yet.
At about 7:10 a.m. on June 24, the municipal police station received a report on a blasting incident at about 1:45 a.m. at Sitio Caseyay in Barangay Camanaga.
According to Engr. Generoso Olidan, project in-charge of the Bohol Backbone Project , a total of 251 towers were already erected by the Ubay-Corella NGCP Transmission project wherein tower Nr. 60 was the subject of the blasting.
