Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim is eying for the termination of the hospital building lease agreement between the city government and the Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (Coop Hospital).

This, even as six employees of the Coop Hospital have been suspended due to the alleged padding of hospital bills.

The mayor's statement came amid allegations that some "unseen hands at City Hall" has benefited from reported padded claims on the Blue Card hospitalization program.

During his weekly "Mayor's Report", Lim said he also ordered for the suspension of Blue Card claims from Coop Hospital based on a complaint made by one of the hospital's employee, who alleged that her claim was intentionally overstated by employees at the said hospital.
        
Lim said aside from the suspension of the hospital's Blue Card accreditation he "may not renew the use of the Coop Hospital building," which is owned by the city, unless the alleged padding of claims is resolved.

The suspension of the accreditation of Coop Hospital under the Blue Card program will be presented to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), according to the mayor.

Moreover, Lim called for an investigation to identify all the beneficiaries confined at the Coop Hospital to uncover if there is indeed an organized operation to defraud Blue Card claims.

"This could have happened several times," Lim said.

The mayor likewise questioned the billing process and the management control systems of the hospital which allowed for such fraud to happen.

All billings made on the Blue Card, said the mayor, are paid out in check by the city government.
