Say that again?
« on: October 05, 2012, 03:10:36 PM »
So 10 percent is loose change? ::)

Plaza* said that while he is a member of a political dynasty, he is fighting his family in Agusan. He also said that unlike other congressmen, he gets only 10 percent, no more, of any project’s contract price.

We've been punked. :o

“Let’s admit it. For those of us who voted for PNoy and LP, it is time to lower our expectations. For those of us who thought the ouster of Corona is the beginning of real change, we should know better by now. All things considered, I’m still very much for PNoy, the lesser evil of them all. But I can’t shake off the feeling that we’ve been punked.”

That’s reader Pia Pilar Francisco writing. From hope to the lesser evil—that tells us something about the state of things.

Nothing wrong with political dynasties

(We've been in power for 9 years and in those 9 years, we invite you all to dissect what we've accomplished).

He is the son and namesake of Sen Edgardo Angara, who served as Senate President from 1993 to 1995, and first served as senator from 1987 until 1992. He served as a Cabinet secretary for President Joseph Estrada, and returned to the Senate in 2001.

Rep Angara said that he found nothing wrong with political dynasties per se but urged voters not to vote for candidates -- including him -- according to their family name.

We end up recycling politicians.

Why do we end up electing even those names that in history has brought us only poverty and misery?

The only explanation is that those who replaced the old set of leaders (including those who left government in infamy) are not that different and have failed to get us to where we have always been dreaming to be.  We end up recycling politicians because there’s not much to choose from.  Those who are qualified would rather not run, as it is expensive to run for office.  So those who end up running are the ones who have always been running.
