Has the slay of a young student here something to do with the rape case filed against her teacher in computer?
This baffled the police investigators in the shooting of 15-year-old Rose Onod in broad daylight early last week while she was about to board a tricycle after her class at Grace Christian School just beside the city airport.
But the young student’s mother, Avelina Onod, believes so. The mother said in a news report yesterday that she suspected that the shooting of her daughter could be linked to the rape case they filed against a computer teacher at Cortes High School. The said (Cortes) school is where her daughter was studying prior to her transfer to Grace Christian School.
The name of the teacher is withheld pending to get his side. He was already invited by the police who are digging deeper of the crime.
Avelina Onod, who was literally crying when interviewed, alleged that there’s no other circumstance, except the rape case that may implicate the teacher in the killing of her daughter.
The mother bared that the family filed a case against the teacher for the latter’s attempt to rape her daughter. But the provincial prosecutor’s office (PPO) dismissed the complaint for lack of evidence, she said. The case was reduced to “acts of lasciviousness.â€
She said they appealed the ruling to the Department of Justice and the latter upheld and gave PPO ten days to “file information†or go ahead with the filing of “acts of lasciviousness†against the teacher. She was told that the teacher had her daughter being touched by her private parts. The next attempt to allegedly molest her was when her daughter was requested by the teacher to come to school (while in Cortes) sometime in December 2008 but the latter did not show up.
The teacher who is a married man was kicked out of school by the priest-director of the Cortes school apparently because of the rape attempt. He is now allegedly living with another woman, the mother said.
She said she decided to transfer her daughter to the city, about ten kilometers from Cortes town, even the schoolyear is about to end because her daughter wanted to be away from the teacher.
The young student ran for kagawad in the recent Sangguniang Kabataan election but did not make it. She added that when the case prospered upon the DOJ advice to file the case against the teacher, Rose then felt happy, the mother said.
She called on those who witnessed the shooting to come out in the open and help unravel the killing and those perpetrators to surrender so justice would be served.
A cartographic sketch is to be made public next week, said SP03 Edgardo Chan in an interview while police still are looking at other angles of the crime.
