duda ko nga all sound and fury signifying nothing ra nang ilang claims of political clout. so when would news releases ever help demystify it by taking out adjectives like "influential" and "bloc voters" out? that way, this church would stop forcing unqualified church members to government posts.
in the late 1980s, while still in the afterglow of the edsa revolution, then mayor osmeña had a real public fight with an INC minister who took to insulting sto. niño processions ("bato ra nang inyong gipangadyean" or something, the loudspeakers blared outside their church, the person speaking well-hidden inside, protected by a high cement fence) and sinulog street dance as these passed (bottles were thrown out of the INC compound) along the main thoroughfare of gen. maxilom ave. where their church is.
mayor osmeña took the church on and challenged the minister, which became media fodder for weeks. yet osmeña kept on winning. the minister was transferred somewhere else. talk of political clout...
