Kuratong Baleleng in Bohol: Fact or Fiction?
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:56:10 PM »
By the Bohol Chronicle

A ranking official of the Philippine National Police breezed into town yesterday to check the veracity on the alleged arrival here of members of the dreaded Kuratong Baleleng, a Mindanao-based armed group.

A confirmed report reaching the Chronicle yesterday bared that the PNP official was supposed to meet with PNP Prov'l Director Anthony Obenza. The meeting did not push through as Obenza left for Cebu mid-morning yesterday.

Aside from gathering information from Camp Dagohoy, the PNP officer conducted interviews among possible sources of information in the locality on the alleged arrival of Kuratong Baleleng members.

In the absence of Obenza, the visiting PNP official met with Camp Dagohoy officials.

Reports will be verified that Kuratong boys are here, but, did not bring firearms to avoid being noticed by the military who recently mounted checkpoints in several areas in the province.

However, it was feared that these Kuratong boys must have known that there are available firearms here which they can use once "commissioned" by politicians for the coming elections.

The PNP check followed after Gov. Erico Aumentado alleged that Kuratong men were commissioned by a ranking government official in the second congressional district.

Aumentado who is at odds recently with Rep. Roberto Cajes, issued the alarm during the last meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC).

For his part, Cajes said the disclosure was done to "cover a grand design of hiring these armed Kuratong for the coming campaign period."

Campaign for local officials will commence on March 26, 2010.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
