Crazy I am amazed that one GM reporter from a local radio station can read cell phone text messages over the radio to his listener's with out verifying if it is true first.
Some simple advice to radio announcers and media verify your facts first before the public should be informed.

What was reported over one of Tagbilarans radio stations went something like this:

"This is an advisory from the Philippine National Police.
If you are driving on a Friday or Saturday night and you happen to see a car coming at you on the opposite side of the road with out lights, do not flash your lights at them? they are members of the blood gang.
Do not flash your lights at them or highbeam them as they are known to come after the car that does that to them chase it down and shoot and kill everyone in the car to complete their mission."

I can see why I am getting home sick as each day goes by with the @*%* that just keeps getting more uglier and deeper?

I hope this radio announcer can come up with more information and confirm if it is true or not?

It's no longer at a comfortable state of being on this Island anymore then compared to five years ago.

If anyone has heard anything else in regards to this matter please keep us updated.

This Island is becoming highly infested with rebels this past few months the highways are not so safe to travel on not like before.

The police in the interior region are busy with almost daily training techniques and conducting many daily and nightly patrols looking for any signs of trouble from these persons.

The province is having a hard time of issuing fire arms still too many police who are newly assigned to patrol the five interior towns due to no more being available until region seven is able to hand over more equipments for the police to help in combating these horrible persons.

The tourist are a big attraction to them and tourist are like magnets to them as more tourist come in then more rebels come in as well.

Scary indeed.

I've been visiting home yearly since in the year 2000, had traveled semi- round Bohol attending a deceased uncle burial in one of the barrio in Inabanga, I never heard and encountered such suspecious incidents. Had travel so far in remote areas but I feel that Bohol is still considered as a safe place for tourist. Well, there is no safe place on earth unless until you are 2 meters deep down under. A nearest relative, she is in Philippine National Police services had just warned to be vigilant enough. Life is a series of risk calculation and there is thrill and beauty on it. No risk no fun!- No home no joy!

Hi Precious! I didn't know of any safer place than in Bohol. I thought you particularly did not feel safe in Bohol because you said so in your first post in this thread.

I have a young sister who is a police officer, whose equally young husband died in the line of duty. At times I feel scared for my sister as she is the only surviving parent to my two young nieces and nephew but I remind myself that I should be proud that my sister is brave (as I am not). I beg to God to keep her safe always.

I had an encounter with five rebels while traveling outside recently and i had to keep it cool while the conductor grabbed the stainless steel bar from under the drivers seat so they would not get to comfortable and wise.

Bambi my little girls biological father happens to be a policeman in the interior of Bohol and we often talk and many things are not let out because of intelligent reasons for the police and military do not want to be out foiled with the rebels.
These Philippine persons are dedicated to fight this unjustice that affects all of all over the world these days.

I didnt get to watch it, i dont really have much time for TV anymore, too busy with my research. But yea, i did see the CNN special a while back about joint exercises with the Philippines and the US. My view on rebels are just this: they will always be there, always have been there since the Spanish times, and no government can please every segment of the population. The best Malacanang can do for us now is to maintain current growth levels, and continue to develop the infrastructure---hopefully---in time, rebellious activity will subside as development and way of life increases. The Philippines can only do so much with its limited budget...

In the columns that i write here in a Philippine weekly newspaper I have mentioned just what you said above about thelimited budget but actually with lack of equipment as the police and military have here they actually perform pretty well during the last annual regional 7 police inspection from camp crame.
Even the PNP located in the interior parts of the province are lacking of arms as the province is out of them at present for issuance to all new incoming and newly assigned policemen coming into the province of Bohol.
I have even been actively present at governor reports for the local BTMA and had asked several questions regarding the topic as well.
It's already old news to them as I informed them during the report and it was coming from an inside resource who is assigned in the interior which is again i say very highly infected with rebels at this moment more then before.
Constant propholectic rounds are being made with in the interiors barangays as we speak.

I remember an alert a few years ago -in the States- having a quite similar statement... It's true. Gangs do this kind of stuff everywhere. Actually, it's supposed to be a gang initiation mission. Gang members are recruited, I assume, anytime of the month... so people just have to be mindful of their surroundings.

Everytime I've talked to my parents these past few weeks, my mom told me all about these random crimes around tagbilaran. It is really scary because we knew one of the victims who was a stabbed in his own driveway no less. yikes ! I wouldnt be too surprised if there is indeed gangs in Bohol. Back in high school, we were always wary about those group of guys who were members of some gang. I cant recall the gang names now, but they painted and vandalized their name all over town.

They were pretty notorious for bullying some of our male classmates and for being into drugs.

I hear you about the T.V.
Even I myself watch it once in a while.
I remember my college days of working part time as well and helping in the house and hitting the hay at 0300 hrs everyday.
Then start my gym class at 7am 34 laps equivalent to two miles to begin my day with, morning class's then at lunch time I swam laps in the Olympic sized swimming pool.
In my day I was a little "Hotbod" back then.
Cheese bread is my weakness here in Bohol, and I am always baking with my girls.

The specail was good it was done with Oliver North retired U.S. Army Colonel.

$:-\$ I have heard in Dauis there are plenty of cars even being held up and mostly the ones doing the hold ups are riding on Motor's with out having license plates on them.

My nephew was ordered to pull over with a gun in his nose in Dauis a few months back, he was driving his parents van, he lost his wallet and cell phone to the robbers.

For myself I am hadlok kayo to do any traveling in the night time on any lone road or highway here in the province and nation.

Its not so recommended much is more wiser and safer to travel long distances before sundown these days.
