Gangs in Tagbilaran Becoming More Violent
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:41:24 PM »
The city government organized last Thursday a “watch dog” to monitor activities of youth gangs that have been disturbing some campuses in the city.

City DepEd Supt. Elpidio Jala was named chairman of the ad hoc committee formed after a recent meeting of the City Peace and Order Council here.

The newly formed ad-hoc body will gather reports from the various schools while measures to curb the activities of these youth gangs will be formulated. The group also targets to halt the recruitment of members reported in some schools.

City Kagawad Edgar Bompat, chair of the committee on protective services of the Sangguniang Panlugsod said the ad hoc body is composed of the cross section of the community including the religious sector.

It seems that it is another case of young people being neglected or discriminated by the society. It seems that there are not much programs for the youth these days. The city has even cancelled many programs to boost and develop youth confidence and involvement in the society.

It became a tradition that youth programs will surface only during Election Time. I don't know if this is just a coincidence.

These things happened because "Idle minds are the devil's playgroud".

It comes from influences generated by outside the family in most cases. I am experienced as a surrogate parent. No matter how good you are to your kids there are always outside influences to get in the way.
I am aware of these gangs as I have Philippine children whom I dearly love and they come home after school tired and telling tales from new students transferring into their private schools because the parents have pulled them out of a bad learning environment with all the gang violence going on with in the public schools here.
Yes the gangs are bad and if i know and see one kid involved I would literally sit on him.
I agree with you Macky It is also do to not enough being organized for the kids to do.
Bohol is nothing compared to the states we have allot more parents who are single parented and raising a kid on their own. Some parents are so emotionally down and medicated that they depend on pension checks as they are so mentally out of it and being counseled and medicated is not enough to help the mental sate of the parent so they throw in alcohol and forget all their responsibilities together. (Lack of attention for the kids)
Some parents in the states will also stay at bars all night long and drink beer and play pool or shoot darts all night instead of being home with their kids. (Lack of attention for the kids)

I have sat in elementary class's here in the Tagbilaran because some crab mentality mother accused my god daughter of copying when she is not that kind of child.(She is a first honor student the yr before in Surigao)
I think it's awful some Philippine parents think its neat to bash other parents kids and hurt them instead of disciplining their own what gives them the right to gang up on my kid?
So to some extent it could be parents in that sense.

I believe that this being a third world country there are many parents working over seas and the result being that plenty of kids are being raised by YAYA instead of by mom and dad.  The child sees his parents less and looks at yaya in a not so serious way.
Also when two parents are working to make ends meet it makes it hard to care for a kid as a parent should not leave a minor in the house alone to watch over himself.
I get furious when I see parents here allowing their kids to enjoy in alcohol and tobacco products and let their kids get away with bad mouthing when the parents are doing all they can to provide a good life for their kids.

My mom was a dictator as my father was a whipped puppy by her and my goodness I did not choice my adult life to be like that.
So if trained and teach ed well by their Parents/ teachers the kids as adults can make a good sound choice on how they want their lives to be such as me once they become an adult.

You can not say that 100% is all blamed on the parents what about the teachers I have observed here who do not give many kids a chance here as it is the same muse year after year because mom pays for a tutor even though the student is not fully participating in class.. I have also witnessed while observing a second grade  elementary class a teacher threatening to walk out of the classroom do to the children's constant wild behaviors that she allowed get that far in the first place?
How immature on her part is she not trained to control a class with just six students in it including the owner of the schools grandchild also as a student and he is one of the kids instigating troubles in the class?
You think it's right that we pay and he does not pay tuition and then he is the king instigator and distractor?
Teacher feels that maybe it would be unfair to put that pupil in a lower class rank because of the parents money being spent on the tutor? (AHEM!)

What kind of civic parks and recreation activities are offered here in Tagbilaran for minors of all ages?
What activities and incentives are there for the kids who want to do well or enhance social skills?
Look at the city's leader does not his attitude set an example of poor and negative leadership skills?
Negative! Negative! Negative! :o
As a parent I have to some what disagree with the statement that kids learn from their parents as I have mentioned several factors up above that can also add to a child's more negative influences.
Maybe the parents are to busy playing neighborhood swertes? ;D

It comes from influences generated by outside the family in most cases. I am a great parent and when my daughter tries to be sneaky it is her outside away from home environment.
Yes the gangs are bad and if i know and see one kid involved I would literally sit on him.

Always boxxing or beauty pageants for chicks.
Bohol has allot of talented Kids here and there should be a wider variety of options for the with in the civic areas of Bohol.

Kids learn from their parents.

They should also assign a Police liaison officer to visit our Schools, especially High Schools kay kasagaran dinha magsugod and mga Gang gang activities. At least dunay relationship ug communication ang atong mga magbalantay sa balaod ug ang atong mga kabataan.

This is now the youth  generation trend to voice out their extensive search just to be heard. A kind of protest of being neglected from the society which causes from different life sectors (jobless, childhood maltreatment, drug abuses or just want to be  8)) And where our young gangs copied these actions?   of course, we are adopting the American/Western way of life.

I just hope, that there would be no killing incidents that might occur in the future, we had already this tragedy were students, professors were killed for nothing. God help and let our schools be safed.
