Duterte wins first presidential debate

Duterte wins first presidential debate

“Decisive and strong-willed.”

This was how presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte was described by several personalities who attended and witnessed the first presidential debate hosted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the Capital University in Cagayan De Oro on Sunday.

For his part, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said the debate showed the other important dimensions of Duterte. “The voting public witnessed Mayor Duterte's clear vision on how to end the country's disorder. He’s the only one who has a firm grasp of the people’s pressing problems, including crime, corruption, and lack of inclusive growth,” Pimentel said.

Meanwhile, PDPLaban Spokesperson Atty. Paola Alvarez said that it’s ironic that the first presidential debate was held in Mindanao, yet, it was only Mayor Duterte who pushed for Mindanaoans’ call for federalism.

Duterte said majority of funds for infrastructure are concentrated in Metro Manila, while only a small percent allocated to Mindanao. He said, if elected, he will push to allocate P1 billion per region for the next 10 years to promote regional development.

“If elected, I will offer federalism to end the country's discord. Nothing short of federalism will bring peace to Mindanao and the rest of the country. We have to right the historical wrong committed against the Moro people,” Duterte asserted.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

I do hope that Duterte wins. Then Maribojoc will benefit. Because even if it is the last term of mayor Toloy, if he really cares for Maribojoc, he has a direct line to the president of the Philippines.
