Just shooting for decent marks, medicine topnotcher says
A combination of diligent review and tons of prayers proved to be the key for the Cebu-based medicine student to top this year's February Physician Licensure Examination.
Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported Friday that Edilfabia Uy of Cebu Doctors University still could not believe she bested the 1,985 medicine students who took the licensure examination. Out of the total number of examinees who took the test, 1,985 passed.
Uy said she studied hard and - like many students taking licensure examinations - prayed hard for the exam, seeking the intervention of many saints, just to get decent marks in the test.
She said she did not expect to top the examination. Uy, 26, a resident of Tagbilaran in Bohol province and the eldest of three siblings, got an 86.33-percent rating.
"Ang mensahe ko sa mga kukuha ng exams sa susunod ay mag-aral ng mabuti, maniwala sa Diyos at magdasal palagi dahil wala namang imposible sa Kanya (My message to future examinees is to study hard and believe in God, and pray always. Nothing is impossible with God)," Uy said.
She said she plans to train in the United States as a specialist. - GMANews.TV
Congratulations and my Salute to Dr. Edilfabia Uy, M.D!
She attended the school that my uncle, Dr. Renee Lucino, M.D. graduated from.
after that skwela nasad ug nursing
Very untrue. There are many Filipino doctors who are practicing abroad who graduated medical school from the Philippines. My uncle is an example, who is currently based in the U.K. Another Filipino, Dr. Dioscoro Villanueva, M.D, who is the leading Cardio thoracic Surgeon in Southern New Jersey, is a graduate of the University of the Philippines School of Medicine, has trained hundreds of American-medical students and medical surgical interns.
To be exact, there are over 20,000 Filipino physicians in the United States, all of them graduated from the Philippines. This is not including or counting the thousands of Filipino-American physicians.
Not all physicians in the Philippines go back to nursing.
Thousands are being recruited to the US every year. They recruit only the best, and this Dr. Uy is surely one of the best.
