"I will reveal their names in the right time," assured a lot owner at the
Dampas dumpsite as she narrated that three ranking officials of the city government were allegedly involved in the
overpricing of lot purchase.
The area to be acquired by the city government is a closed dumpsite as far as the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) is concerned since open dumpsites are no longer allowed to operate under the law.
The lot owner who requested anonymity told the Chronicle she was approached several times by a city hall official who pegged the price at no less than P500 per square meter when the City Assessors Office valuation is only P70/sq.m.
He said the city hall negotiator explained the "overpriced cost has to be followed since three ranking officials were
demanding commissions on the lot sale." He said the three city hall personalities are closely identified with the city mayor.
In fact, two of them has figured in controversies at the city hall.
"I will reveal their names on the right time," the lot owner committed even as he was barred from talking to the media regarding the lot deal.
The controversy on the lot acquisition in Dampas came after the majority bloc pushed for the approval of P15 million to pay a 2.5 hectare of lot now being used as a
dumpsite. - Bohol Chronicle
