Many farmers will have another good reason to increase their daily income after the launching of the mariculture zone project on February 12 in the island barangay of Mahanay, Talibon.
The Local Government Unit of Talibon (LGU-Talibon) represented by Mayor Juanario Item and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) central office represented by Lawyer Malcolm Sarmiento Jr., BFAR national director has signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the project.
The ceremonial signing was witnessed by BFAR 7 Regional Director Andres Bojos, Governor Erico Aumentado, Provincial Board Member Amalia Tirol, Mayors of neighboring towns of Talibon, Vice-Mayor Resituto Auxtero, Sangguniang Bayan members, investors, members of the Municipal Fishery Resource Management Council (MFARMC) and fisherfolks.
The project's investment in its initial starting capital is estimated at P1 million which allocated for the materials like G.I. framed cages, 200 bamboo poles, 2,100 gutatus (kitong), 2,100 pieces of L. Canaliculatus (danggit), milkfish and grouper fingerlings and pompano fishes.
