On the other hand, even the best intention can be fatal as an amok belatedly discovered in Tagbilaran last week.

      A man who ran amuck in San Isidro district ended up dead when a shot intended for his feet instead turned out to be a fatal shot.

      The fatality was identified as one Rogaciano Olea alias Ojing, 43 and a San Isidro native.

      Olea went berserk in the morning of Jan. 27 at the Gawad Kalinga area in Cabawan of the said barangay.

      The amok who was armed with a bladed weapon hacked a woman later identified as one Maria Emily Salarda, 38 who was also a resident of the place.

      This prompted barangay officials to request for police assistance to prevent the fatality from inflicting harm on other people.

      Olea however did not show any sign of slowing down and instead turned to one of the responding policeman identified as PO1 Joseph Salang.

      Salang decided to aim for the victim’s feet to neutralize him. Olea however ducked just as the policeman fired his gun.

      Olea was hit in his body which turned out to be fatal. He was declared dead on arrival at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.

      The hacking victim however was no longer admitted because the wound on her arm and hand were only superficial.

      Investigators learned that the fatality had lately been mentally troubled although it was not immediately known what caused him to ran amuck that day. - Sunday Post
