Three houses along Penaflor st., barangay Booy, this city were hit by an early evening fire last Tuesday, two totally destroyed while a third house was partially damaged.

FO3 Elmer Anquilero, city fire investigator, disclosed that the alarm that they received came late. This was due to the non-functioning of the hotline 160 for PLDT subscribers.

Anquilero believed that the blaze started around 6:40PM while their station got the fire alarm around 6:50PM.

The first house that was leveled to the ground was owned by certain Avelino Loquere, PMI instructor. The other neighboring house was owned by certain Cenon Tirol, former city fire fighter.

Per investigations conducted, it was learned that the blaze started in one of the five rooms of the Loquere couple located in the 2nd floor of their renovated house.

Another house identified to be owned by certain Corsino Fabre was also partially damaged.

Anquilero added that they are looking on the possibility that faulty wiring was the cause of the fire considering that an electric fan inside the room of the Loquere couple was left unplugged before the conflagration started.

A total of 11 fire trucks responded the fire alarm which included the city's engine 1 from Mansasa, engine 2 from Calceta, engine 3 from old city hall, engine 4 from Lindaville, engine 5 and water tanker from Calceta and command car from Ubujan. Other fire trucks which responded to the fire alarm were that of the Alturas Supermarket Corporation, Bohol Quality Mall and a water tanker of Geoorge Lim.

Although there were so many fire trucks which responded, Anquilero explained that only the first two fire trucks fought the blaze as the other fire trucks only served as feeder of water.
