Construction work on Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex for the 2013 Southeast Asian Games has completed by 85 percent, said an official daily New Light of Myanmar Wednesday.

As the main stadium for the 27th SEA Games, Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex is located in Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital of Myanmar.

Max Myanmar Co is constructing the stadium which comprises modern stadium, modern gymnasium and modern swimming pool.

The oval shape stadium which is located on an area of 7,144 square meters, can accommodate about 30,000 spectators. The construction work started in January 2010.

The stadium will host various kinds of sports -- long jump, shot put, discus, pole vault and hurdles.

The 27th SEA Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung beach for 42 sports events from Dec. 8 to 12.

The SEA Games, held every two years since 1959, is the largest sports event in Southeast Asia.

Myanmar hosted the Games in 1961 and 1969, winning 104 medals in the 1961 SEA Games and 149 medals in 1969.
