Unified lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is still very much looking forward to a rubber match with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao — that is, after the rugged Mexican takes care of his toughest fight to date against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
A day before Pacquiao demolished Ricky Hatton in two rounds, a press conference announcing Mayweather’s July 19 comeback fight against Marquez was held.
According to reports, Mayweather and Marquez will be meeting at a catchweight of 143 pounds — in which Marquez will be scaling in at least eight pounds heavier than his normal fighting weight.
In the event he beats Mayweather, Marquez said he will take on Pacquiao before the end of the year to settle their “unfinished business.†- Philippine Star
“If I defeat Mayweather, I would be ready to move forward with a Manny Pacquiao fight,†Marquez told the Mexico-based daily Esto.
