Little-known but hardworking student from the Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School Jesus Pacaldo once again made Boholanos proud when he almost cop the gold medal in the recently-concluded 4th Para Assocation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Games in Nakhon, Ratchasima in Thailand.
Pacaldo was the gold medalist in this event during the 2007 World Special Olympics Games held in Shanghai, China.
The RP Team finished in fifth place overall with 19 gold medals, 21 silvers and 21 bronze medals and fell one notch lower from its fourth place finish in the 2005 Games in Manila where the Pinoys harvested 22 golds, 42 silvers and 40 bronzes. The local team arrived here last Sunday. Pacaldo is a SPED Center student and the pride of Bool District, this city.
The inspiring persons behind Pacaldo’s success included Consuelo Laolao Arreza, class adviser; Rhodora Ingking Tadena, SPED principal and Frank Echalico, secondary teacher of the Manga National High School and special program for sports of the city DepEd as trainer.
Pacaldo’s success was also given a big boast by Norma S. Varquez, asst. schools division superintendent and OIC of City DepEd. Cebu contributed two silver and two bronze medals. (Ruel C. Namocatcat)
