Second Marriage of Aiko Melendez Annulled
« on: November 28, 2010, 11:23:17 PM »
After 3 years of hearings, the marriage of actress-turned-politician Aiko Melendez and her second husband, Martin Jickain, has finally been annulled.

During her exclusive interview with “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda, Melendez confirmed that she is now single “legally and in a true sense of the word.”

She also divulged that the court has given her sole custody of their only child, daughter Marthena. Her former husband has visitation rights.

Melendez, whose marriage to first husband actor Jomari Yllana has also been annulled, heaved a sigh of relief after learning the court’s decision.

Is she planning to settle down anytime soon now that she is legally free?

“Napaso na ako. So, I will take my time. Ayoko naman na sisihin ako ng dalawang anak ko na, ‘Mom, ‘yong first time na annulment mo okay pa. Second pa, you better think about it.’ Kapag third pa, wala na akong mukhang ihaharap sa mga anak ko,” said Melendez, who has a son, Andrei, from her first marriage.

Melendez is now dating Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses. She admitted that they are discussing marriage but nothing is serious yet.

She stressed that she would not get married just “for the heck of it.”

Melendez has also been rumored to be pregnant, but she only laughed off the intrigue during the interview.

Meanwhile, she is not closing her doors to the possibility that she and Jickain will end up as good friends in the future. As for now, they are only civil to each other.

“Kapag may kailangan siya kay Marthena, hindi pa niya madiretsa sa amin kasi traumatic ang nangyari sa amin. Demandahan ang nangyari. Aside sa annulment, may restraining order. So, hindi pa naman kaya pang maging magkaibigan,” she said, referring to the 2008 decision of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court that granted her petition for a permanent protection order.

According to her, what’s important is that Marthena, although she is too young to understand, “adjusted too well” in the situation.

Appeal

Melendez, meanwhile, also made an appeal to Yllana to spend more time with their son. “Jom, magpakita ka naman sa anak mo. Ikaw naman, Diyos ko, ilang taon na.”

She confessed that Yllana would sometimes back out of his promise to Andrei.

She said: “Kapag magpra-promise siya kay Andrei, tuparin niya. Kung hindi niya matutupad, ie-explain niya kay Andrei why what happened. Para kasi ako ‘yong nagiging mukhang sinungaling na sa anak ko…. Sa totoo lang, sinasalo ko lang naman si Jom.” -  ABS-CBN

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
