SEARCA, DA-BAR to conduct Knowledge Sharing Workshop
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna July 6 (PNA) -- The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) will conduct a Knowledge Sharing Workshop among members of the Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) Community of Practice on July 7-9 , 2015 at Acuaverde Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas.
A total of 25 participants, composed of technical staff from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), Regional Information Officers from DA Regional Field Units, and Information Officers from DA Attached Agencies, are expected to attend the training.
This activity is an important component of the project being implemented by SEARCA for DA-BAR entitled “Capacity Development Program on Knowledge Management – Phase II.â€
The workshop is a continuation of the back-to-back Knowledge Management (KM) training held on April 13-17, 2015 at SEARCA where the same participants learned the foundational concepts and principles of KM in the agriculture and fisheries sector and demonstrated knowledge sharing to external audiences through the use of social media networks.
This knowledge sharing workshop will enable participants to learn institutional best practice on the use of social media and other platforms; share individual lessons learned based on their experiences; and appreciate the use of learning management systems (LMS) from the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry (SARAI) project, the DA-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), and SEARCA’s Knowledge Center on Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management in Southeast Asia (KC3).
The workshop will have sessions on external and internal knowledge sharing techniques: sharing of best practice and lessons learned; blogs; community of practice (CoPs); tweets; face-to-face discussions; and world café. There will also be a corresponding workshop for each best practice sharing session.
The resource persons include Jose Rey Alo of DA-ATI, Malaya Montesur of SEARCA KC3, and Dr. Maria Victoria Espaldon of the SARAI project while Emely Amoloza will serve as the overall facilitator. Sarah Grace Quiñones and Maylyn Desamparo of the SEARCA Project Development and Technical Services (PDTS) will provide technical and administrative support during the workshop. (PNA)
