Gender identity disorder

Strong, persistent  cross-gender identification. Characterized by persistent discomfort with one's sex, causing significant distress and or impaired functioning.

Note: Many people with GID (gender identity disorder) proceed with sex changes.

Before, homosexuality / transgender issues was considered a medical pathology, as indicated by the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorderes). However, because of political and social rights activists, homosexuality and transgender issues is no longer included in the DSM. It is now considered normal.

Tho, there are a plethora of psychologists and psychiatrists who would say that there is some kind of underlying genetic/environmental catalyst to said formation of  homosexuality.
