For efficiency in public service, all elected officials including secretaries and treasurers of the 12 barangays in this town attended an orientation seminar on governance and administration.

The activity was conducted pursuant to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular 2008-17 carrying the goal to enhance proficiency of barangay officials for them to be empowered through capacity-building activities.

Topics discussed include their functions, duties and responsibilities as provided in Republic Act 7160 or the Local Government Code.

They were also oriented about parliamentary procedures, legislative bodies, internal rules and procedures during the conduct of sessions, conferences and meetings.
          

Other important inputs included the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards, barangay legislation and development planning.

The municipal government under the leadership of Mayor Apolinar Gumanid Jr. and Vice-Mayor Eustaquio Flor, who also serves as one of the resource person, extended their all-out support to the activity organized by DILG Officer Juliet Olalo.

Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president Zacarias Casuguid expressed gratitude to the organizer and the continuous support of the DILG, municipal and barangay officials, saying they are better equipped now to serve their constituents.

The first two batches of barangay officials headed by their respective barangay captains who attended the orientation held on February 26-29 at JJ's Seafood Village were Casuguid and offials of Cansague Norte, Eudoxio Asoy of Poblacion with council members, Barangay Captains Mario Ladura of Baunos, Cirilino Bongaos Jr. of Cabanugan, Danilo Saligumba of .Masonoy, Crispin Ompoy of Cansague Sur, Felix Pagas of Causwagan Sur and Timoteo Gabaisen of Abehilan.

The session for the last batch to be conducted on March 3-4 will be attended by Barangay Captain Carlos Lamban of Candungao and council members, Baranay Captain Rufino Sumatra of Cambansag, Barangay Captain Romeo Patulilic of Baryongdaan and Venancio Laquinta of Caimbang.
