The Political Wheelchair of the Republic of the Philippines
Every object there is a story, but in contemporary Political scenarios of the Philippines which I can tag as “The Era of the wheelchair drama”.

In Philippine society and cultural aspects, mostly Filipinos have this “heartfelt sympathy” which is a positive characteristic but very much vulnerable and prone to abuse and negative decision of the people which are in hot seat. Like this wheelchair drama is the sign of physical weakness and disability which can be resulted in such excuses and consideration.

The drama of wheelchair and corruptions are now partners in tolerating these pen pushers and corrupt officials. Its up to Juans if they will be emotional to give consideration about their press release “health conditions” but to look the worst reality how many in poor sector suffer because of hunger and psychological effects because of poverty vs. the mansions in Forbes Park, Lamborghini wheels of their children with the extended privelage of using a government plate number like “8”, Swiss accounts or making Hongkong as their dinner hub only.

What we see during Senate hearing it accumulates lies and dramas (what’s new?) Our politicians are taking their long time to conduct and trial, to prove this alleged “corrupt politician” to be sent to jail? But in political life of the Philippines, who are the convicted politicians are in jail together with normal convicts? NONE! If yes, they must be living like in a fully furnished condominium maybe with a Butler, isn’t? If thats a case I would love to be in jail!

Let me give a brief outlook about these four politicians who are best in wheelchair drama:

Jocelyn “Joc-Joc” Bolante - served as an Undersecretary of Department of Agriculture in 2001 (Under President Arroyo Regime)

Corruption Scandal: The P728-million fertilizer fund scam which He was the mastermind in using the people’s fund (supposed to be an agricultural budget in buying fertilizers to be given to our farmers). It was also alledged that the funds were diverted to Gloria Arroyo’s campaign propaganda and also Joc-Joc’s big percentage. When the controversy broke out in 2006, Bolante fled to the US and sought asylum but unfortunately for him, he has been deported, The US Embassy in Manila writes Bolante telling him that his non-immigrant visa has been revoked and is not valid for travel Bolante is arrested by airport authorities in Los Angeles for using a cancelled visa. When Bolante arrives from the US, he was whisked to St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he remains confined and placed under hospital arrest. He was guarded by the staff from the Senate sergeant-at-arms because Bolante was diagnosed with sleep problem.

Andal Ampatuan Jr. - A former mayor of Datu Unsay, Maguindanao. He is the son of patriarch Andal Ampatuan Sr., and his family continues to represent a powerful Political dynasty in Mindanao politics. His brother, Zaldy Ampatuan is the regional governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). His Family is known for a very close family friend of President Gloria Arroyo.

Corruption Scandal: His involvement of mass killing of at least 58 people on 23 November 2009. The victims, which included some of the clan’s family members, as well as 32 journalists, lawyers and civilians were on their way to the town of Shariff Aguak to file a certificate of candidacy ( Maguindanao Massacre ).

He surrendered to Filipino authorities and was charged with murder. What makes this guy a complete disgrace to Filipinos is that he has denied any involvement in the massacre even though there were several witnesses that have gone on record stating that they saw him at the scene of the crime.

The Philippine (Mindanao) has been tagged as “Most dangerous place or a Threat for Journalists.

Gloria M. Arroyo - Former President of the Republic of the Philippines, If i can perform a dissection of her regime as President it will consume my blog. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo .

Corruption Scandals: Politcal scandal & corruption List of President Arroyo Administration

Philippines’ Government and the People suspected that she might not come back to face all her high level graft and corruption and election fraud case which set to be hear end of this year as her lawyer submitted the list of countries to be visited are non Judicial- extrajudicial treaty countries with the Philippines.

Lately, it has been rumored that she is seeking for asylum to other countries to escape from the cases that filed against her. It has been reported also that early this year (2011) Mrs. Arroyo is lobbying foreign countries to put-up her investments but barred by the OFW associations abroad that are in doubts of her sources of fund as her government is rumored to be the most corrupt government in the Philippine History next to Marcos government. She has been blocked from NINOY AQUINO AIRPORT by the protesters upon going to departure are for her flight to USA so she can be having an illness treatment.

Renato Corona - Now impeached Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona’s turn to use the wheelchair after a grueling two-hour defense. He was reported to have had a bout with hypoglycemia (Corona is said to be diabetic). When he left the witness stand, he seemed to be well, even shaking the hands of those whom he met along the way out. As he returned, his tie was loosened, and yes, he was strapped to a wheelchair. Seemingly immobile.

Taking a ride on a wheelchair had been the effective excuse of high people on trial for high offenses. The recent show starring the chief justice Renato Corona where he excused himself after narrating his tale on the witness chair of the impeachment court reminded the people of similar tactics resorted by high ranking officials charged before the courts. People would recall how healthy high officials who went fugitive and weak.
